Position Summary

 We are looking for a mid-level associate to join our rapidly growing global IP & Technology Transactions practice in our New York or Silicon Valley office. You should have strong academic credentials and a genuine interest in strategic initiatives and commercial transactions involving intellectual property, data and technology. Our Practice Area

 One of the largest practices of its type in any global law firm, the Sourcing and Technology Transactions Group handles a wide range of matters, from complex sourcing and strategic alliances to cybersecurity, Big Data and data management concerns. With decades of experience in the sector, we have advised on many of the largest landmark sourcing arrangements ever undertaken, and continue to support some of the world’s most prominent companies with their IT and sourcing needs.Both our clients—and the technologies at the heart of their businesses—are exciting, innovative and highly varied. From the moment you join our practice, you can expect to be given significant responsibility, meeting regularly with clients and handling such tasks as due diligence reviews, reading and summarizing contracts, drafting simple agreements and internal project management.While we demand the commitment necessary to deliver outstanding service, our practice has a relaxed working culture, with a collegial atmosphere. Duties and Accountabilities1

 

  • Managing deal teams and processes across practice areas and geographic locations
  • Solving legal problems relating to new and emerging technologies
  • Managing and conducting due diligence
  • Counseling clients on IP litigation and strategy matters as well as patent pooling arrangements
  • Conducting brief or more complex research, or drafting of memoranda, depending on client needs
  • Serving as primary point of contact for clients, opposing counsel and other transactional legal teams
  • Exercising good judgment in internal and external written and verbal communications
  • Providing direct assistance to senior lawyers on matters arising in the course of day-to-day provision of legal services to leading international and domestic clients
  • Mentoring and training of junior team members and attendance at, and participation in, continuing education classes and client development initiatives

  

Qualifications

 

  • 3-7 years of relevant law firm or in-house experience
  • Background in intellectual property or privacy law and experience with licensing and larger corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions or joint ventures
  • Significant experience in drafting complex documents, managing large transactions, and handling negotiations
  • Good understanding of the key risks and issues involved in cross-border transactions
  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent drafting skills
  • Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects
