Technical Writer (Santa Monica, CA)

This position offers an exciting opportunity in an internet software company with a smart workforce. The Technical Writer will be responsible for working closely with product managers and developers to create and maintain user-friendly product help while also generating and implementing ideas to transform the way we create and deliver our client help materials. You must be a self-starter, who can take direction as well as provide direction when needed. Additionally, you must be able to learn quickly, take on new challenges, and juggle multiple projects with varying client needs and backgrounds.

This position requires a talented individual who excels in comprehensive problem analysis, software support and customer service.

In this role you will

  • Create clear, concise, readable product release documentation for client system administrators, end users, and internal users
  • Update, maintain, and innovate Online Help content
  • Develop expert product knowledge through training, hands-on experience, and testing
  • Manage the Online Help product process from planning through production and deployment
  • Regularly review product specs and release notes to update and enhance Online Help
  • Generate and implement ideas for process & content delivery innovation
  • Manage questions in the client community and internal portals and translate responses into viable help content enhancements
  • Gather and incorporate feedback into the overall development process
  • Manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Manage the translation process of the help system into multiple languages by working withvendors and stakeholders in various areas of the business
  • Lead internal Web training sessions on Online Help
  • Regularly contribute innovation ideas and lead projects for implementing those ideas
  • Required to pass all internal Cornerstone OnDemand product certification exams

You’ve got what it takes if you have…

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, English, Communications, or equivalent major, experience and/or training
  • Have strong self-initiative and flexibility
  • Have at least 4 years technical writing experience with knowledge of software documentation writing
  • Have solid knowledge of MadCap Flare or RoboHelp
  • Have solid knowledge of Salesforce Knowledge
  • Able to grasp complex system workflows and understand cause/effect for actions taken in such systems
  • Able to thoroughly document and articulate system behaviors, issues, workflows and/or functionality in such a way that basic users can easily understand
  • Able to edit technical communications to ensure content excellence
  • Have outstanding written/oral communication skills, time management, and organizational skills
  • Have Agile methodology experience
  • Can provide samples of technical writing during the interview process
