The Technical Training Manager provides leadership and direction to the Technical Training Group. Manages technical writers, and training specialists in the development and administration of company-wide training programs designed to provide increased technical tool capabilities to employees across levels and functions. Tools include SAP and PLM, among other engineering, finance, and communication platforms. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents in this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts needs analysis to determine organizational needs and training requirements. Recommends training approach to best fit needs and promote employee retention and application.
  • Develops training course materials, which may include: manuals, training plans, outlines, learning objectives, instructor guides, student guides, workshop exercises, performance tests, design concepts, storyboards and audio/video recordings.
  • Creates elearning content through Articulate and Adobe and manages administration.
  • Manages training schedules and logistics, including LMS management.
  • Works with SMEs in engineering, program management, IT, finance, and manufacturing, among others, to establish and define training content, prerequisite skills and knowledge for trainees.
  • Contributes proposal, schedule and budget inputs, as needed. Influences project schedule to best roll-out training and advocate for learner needs. Manages training development, and provides project status to stakeholders.
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert on related technical projects.
  • Assigns staff writing, training and test responsibilities and ensures quality work delivered on time.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Four-year college degree, or equivalent, in electronics, engineering, computer science, finance or a related technical field, plus a minimum of eight years’ experience in the technical training field, and management experience. Minimum three years experience with word processing and spreadsheet applications (Word Perfect, Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with PLM, SAP, Tableau, graphic drawing applications (Micrografix Draw, Visio, AutoCAD, etc.) preferred. Must be available for travel.
