Technical Sourcing Engineer for Covidien, LP (a Medtronic company) located in North Haven, CT. Multiple Positions available. Perform technical sourcing project management for New Product Introduction / New Product Development (NPI/NPD) from concept stage to post- launch by providing required technical engineering expertise and serves as the technical liaison between design requirements and suppliers' technical capability. Facilitate technology road maps of early supplier involvement (ESI) & supporting identification of new technologies sources and performed in-depth benchmarking using RFx for NPD projects. Conduct cost analysis and negotiations. Responsible for supplier selection process with balanced scorecard, alignment with category strategy and familiar with global sourcing, ensuring supplier meeting standards and responsible for supply management key performance indicators (KPIs) including review of Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), supply chain, tariff, part documentation, logistics, quality, continuous improvement activities, risk management, and qualification activities from initiation to market launch. Negotiate contracts with suppliers on terms and conditions, prices and lead time. Coordinate material demands, inventory mgmt. and planning. Identify supply risks and mitigate the risks. Coordinate supply issues and provide continuous supply. Understand metal, plastics, electric components and PCBA categories while working with Research and Development (R&D) and Supply Quality. Understand engineering drawings. Leverage knowledge of (PPAP), QMS (Quality Mgmt. System), lean six sigma and ISO requirements to evaluate, select, and coordinate supplier launch performance. Travel 20% of time to visit suppliers in the United States.
Basic Qualifications:
Masters’ degree in Supply Chain or Mechanical, Industrial, Business Logistics or Biomedical Engineering or related engineering field and two (2) years of experience as a technical sourcing engineer, supply chain analyst, business logistics engineer, or related occupation working with Supplier Controls. Must possess two years of experience in the following: Technical sourcing project for NPI & NPD from concept stage to post- product launch; ESI including new technology roadmaps, benchmarking and cost analysis; Supplier selection and performance risk analysis with scorecard, category strategy, global sourcing, COGS, supply chain, tariff, quality, logistics, continuous improvement activities, risk mgmt. and qualification activities; Contracts & contract negotiations; Quality system compliance including PPAP, ISO and lean six sigma; Material Planning and inventory analysis; Supply Risk mitigation continuous supply; and Work with metal, plastics, electric components and PCBA. Travel 20% to visit suppliers in the United States.
