This position is responsible for managing and directing the organization toward its primary technological objectives and all quality related functions required to accomplish department objectives and division goals based on long-term product and profitability goals, by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate engineers/managers Formulates and maintains quality control vision and coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other management team members to maximize product reliability. Works directly with customers to define requirements and solve quality issues while maintaining excellent relationships. Leadership is a key strength. Position requires a blend of both strategic and tactical approaches to quality.

  • Manages and directs the activities of Technical & Quality personnel including Metallurgists, Engineers and the Quality Assurance & Control Group. All members of this group represent the Company on Quality
  • Is accountable for the metallurgical process and quality of the product produced and shipped to customers, the conversion of billet used in the manufacturing process, the quality of metallurgical testing and compliance, and final dimensions and inspection of product prior to shipping.
  • Develop and implement systems and procedures to ensure that the plant operations are in compliance with all quality/technical standards and policies.
  • Develop, implement, and support systems and procedures to monitor and manage outside vendors and their quality performance.
  • Develop and implement systems and procedures to ensure that all products meet product specifications, customer expectations, regulatory requirements and internal standards for product integrity.
  • Oversee all compliance related activities including Nadcap, AS9100, ISO9001, ASTM specifications, Customer quality requirements, and internal quality specifications.
  • Identify individual training needs and to create development plans for key individuals within the quality organization.
  • Motivate and evaluate staff and utilize management tools and techniques in resolving organizational challenges.
  • Develop departmental strategy that embraces a migration to statistical process control where possible.
  • Be constantly audit ready through consistent application of basic quality practices in a systematic fashion.
  • Provide overall leadership in to establish and monitor customer/supplier relations, strategic planning and deployment initiatives, and measurement systems to determine organizational improvement.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Metallurgy from an accredited institution;
  • Minimum of 5 years of combined experience in management of product or process engineers and product or process metallurgists in a forging or hot metal working environment, Quality Assurance & Quality Control management, including chemicals/metallurgical laboratory, mechanical property testing, and nondestructive testing; management of Research & Development projects and Technology developments;
  • Must possess a valid driver's license;
  • Must possess a valid passport and be willing to travel to Customers, Supplies and on other Company business within the United States and abroad;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with metal alloys and/or aerospace is highly preferred;
  • Previous experience in visual manufacturing and Finite Element Analysis is considered a plus.
