Role and Responsibilities
Maintain good stakeholder communication with R&D teams, local technical and marketing teams, and carrier customers. Track and execute multiple project schedules, milestones and deliverables for executing wireless products via carrier approval process from pre-lab entry to technical acceptance/approval. Collaborate with software, hardware, User Experience (UX), product management, and quality assurance teams, and use creativity to find solutions to technical and logistic issues. Communicate project status and key issues to management. Prepare and manage all hardware and software deliverables to the customer, and work with development to ensure all required materials are available in advance to committed delivery date. Identify and report all schedule risks along with clear corrective action plan and owners with sufficient lead time to maintain project schedule. Identify critical and urgent issues and take corrective action items and/or recommendations to management and issue owners in a timely manner. Apply technical engineering knowledge and experience to understand customer applications, test cases, and requirements. Lead other team members and provide necessary guidance for efficiency and effectiveness. Drive the project approval process for assigned carrier from product introduction to launch, to ensure all testing is completed (either leveraged from parent device or new), programmatic and technical issues are resolved and hardware and software deliverables. Address and drive post-launch market issues reported by their carrier and internal parties. Work with post-launch team to resolve technical issues. Work with R&D software team to plan and execute regular software updates to introduce new features/capabilities and resolve identified issues. Resolve technical issues reported by the carrier during the device certification process. Report and track issues with appropriate R&D teams, work with carrier test engineers to replicate failures and collect appropriate data and logs for analysis by subject matter experts (SME). Relay issue status to carriers and negotiate scope and timeline to provide fixes. Attend regular product reviews and represent all device delivery schedules, open issue investigations and plans for device software maintenance releases. Understand technology roadmaps and manage commercialization and launch of new features for their carrier. Manage new technology and feature trials for assigned carriers.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related occupation requiring wireless mobile telecommunications engineering. Experience and skill set must include: 1) Three years of experience in wireless software development and QA/testing engineering. 2) Three years of experience in testing client server-based application on Android Platform. 3) Three years of experience delivering integrated and tested software for CDMA mobile handsets. 4) One year of wireless carrier-based testing for US operator requirements and mobile devices. 5) Two years of experience using LTE, eHRPD and CDMA in wireless network systems. 6) Two years of experience using network monitoring tools like QXDM, QPST and Wireshark. 7) Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other engineering and technical support personnel. 8) Ability to manage, plan, organize, and prioritize multiple engineering support assignments and projects. 9) Ability to read, write, interpret, provide critical review and act on a very high level and full understanding of technical documents, engineering test manuals, standards and specifications, materials, customer applications and related documents. 10) Demonstrated high competency level in communication of technical information. 11) Ability to communicate, through email and reports, or orally, complex technical matters to an audience of equal or higher-level technical competency.
