What will you do at Ciena?

Ciena is part of the Canada and Quebec/Ontario interprovincial initiative called ENCQOR that will lay the groundwork for the first 5G next generation network collaboration platform in Canada.. This new 5G test bed network will create a truly interconnected world of smart cities, connected cars and smart devices – all at faster speeds in Quebec, Ontario. As a key partner, Ciena has the mandate to connect the Wireless Radios and data centers to a Ciena packet-optical wireline network that glues everything together in the background. As such, we are looking for highly motivated and talented project manager who is passionate about the coordination of projects related to implementation, operation and maintain of a highly complexity 5G network.

Responsibilities
Responsible for multiple projects encompassing IT area, product area or supply chain area,
Contribute to process management optimization efforts associated with project management
Document and communicate project status, obstacles and resolutions to management.
Accountable for developing and coordinating carefully designed and approved action plans to successfully complete projects.
Act as the primary point of contact for all aspects of projects.

General Activities
Provide overall management for implementation of a complex 5G network and associated initiatives per the Plan of Record (POR).
Coordinate and interface with ENCQOR Program Manager, engineering primes, installers, equipment suppliers, contractors , building owners, procurements and Finance to ensure project deliverables, financial targets and quality of service are met.
Accountable for Project Financials, Timelines and Quality.
Validate Project “Scope of Workto Develop detailed project plan
Provide Project SOW Package to Functional teams to facilitate Internal Resource Planning and/or Partner RFQ’s.
Oversees and ensures proper planning to meet committed schedules based on input from Program Management and other internal teams.
Maintain project schedules and report to Management regularly or as agreed including communication and investigation of deviations to the project schedule.
Assure all parties maintain close communication and coordination regarding project status and milestones.

Collaboration with stakeholders
You will manage projects, drive achievement, control cost, schedule and quality goals. To achieve this you will need to interface on a day to day basis with ENCQOR partners (Ericsson, Thales, IBM, CGI) , suppliers, SMEs (small and medium Enterprises) , Fiber providers, etc...
Partners directly with internal and external customers to translate requirements into structured and executable tasks and milestones.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information technology, Electrical engineering or related field
6+ years’ experience in project management role.
Knowledge of Network and IT infrastructure
Bilingual French and English
Minimum travelling between Quebec and Ontario hub sites (Quebec, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Waterloo)
Valid Driver license
Canadian passport
Candidate will be working from the Ciena office located in Ville St-Laurent .
Working from Home is possible for 2-3 days a week
Candidate must have an address in Quebec and based in Montreal (or willing to relocate ) .
