Our Opportunity:

One of the key mainstream Technology Organizations at Charles Schwab is looking for a seasoned Systems, Infrastructure and Data Architect who will be instrumental in transforming how Customer and Account Information is leveraged for our clients and for the firm. This role will be responsible for driving the strategy, architecture, roadmaps and execution of projects that will enable Charles Schwab to provide services and solutions through our client’s eyes. Reporting to the head of the Customer and Account Technology(CAT) Organization, the Technical Director Architect is part of a leadership team responsible for modernizing the platform and creating an integrated view for our customers. He/She will also be responsible for strategic technology solutions, high quality deliverables for the organization, collaboration, secure infrastructure, availability and performance. 

What you’ll do:

  • Drive the CAT App Modernization infrastructure strategy, architecture and roadmaps in alignment with the business values, vision, and priorities of the firm
  • Provide direction on architecture and design decisions including solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build, on or off premise, private, public or hybrid cloud, project estimations, technology selection and high level technical design
  • Lead large and transformational infrastructure project implementations ensuring engineers fully leverage the technology for future solutions and designs
  • Work with strategic vendors in the realization of our strategy
  • Perform ROI and other cost-benefit analysis of new strategies and technologies
  • Define IT infrastructure standard frameworks, blueprints and artifacts for the entire CAT modernization effort
  • Collaborate with Information Security architects, Application architects and otherInfrastructure architects on overall roadmap and priorities 
  • Work closely with engineers and otherinfrastructure groups in the execution of technology proof of concepts, pilots and the technology adoption lifecycle
  • Work with the platform managers to set the standards and designs to be used as part as solution delivery to our consumers/internal customers
  • Develop and foster cross organizational relationships with application, infrastructure and business unit team members
  • Mentor, influence, and evangelize environmental changes upon the introduction of new services
  • Communicate overall vision, strategy, and roadmap to business counterparts
  • Collaborate with leadership to manage business stakeholder expectations effectively 

What you have:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. Computer Science preferred or equivalent experience
  • 10 years+ experience in an engineering role 
  • Hands on experience with Azure, AWS, Google Cloud or one of the other major Cloud providers
  • Expert level knowledge of master data management and data solutions
  • Advanced knowledge of computing models such as SaaS, Paas, IaaS
  • Experience with the integration of data and retirement of legacy systems
  • Experience in evaluating computing models and services required to scale, perform and deliver secure IT infrastructure services
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to interface with internal customers and establish strong, collaborative partnerships


  • 6+ years of experience as an Enterprise Architect
  • In-depth understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle
  • Industry knowledge of Master Data Management 
  • Fundamental understanding of ITIL
