This Position

The Technical Course Developer uses curriculum and lab development processes to design and develop materials to be used in a variety of training delivery methods, including instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, self-paced, custom, and blended training solutions. This position will focus on DocuSign's API Developer curriculum. You will develop interactive and engaging training for our large network of API developers. You should be comfortable with independently researching new tools and technologies, using third-party APIs, and integrating API's into custom applications. The Technical Course Developer works with colleagues and internal stakeholders to identify educational needs; works with subject matter experts to define course content and objectives; creates, updates, and edits training materials for existing classroom and online courses; tests and troubleshoots new or existing courses; writes technical exams; and contributes to the evolution of our course development processes.

This position reports to the Director of Content Strategy & Development, DocuSign University.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop engaging, challenging, and meaningful course and lab content for API Developer training courses using an agile and role-based approach
  • Collaborate with technical subject matter experts to ensure accurate, effective, and timely curriculum that supports internal and external needs
  • Develop subject matter expertise in assigned product areas to build real-world examples and context into training materials
  • Establish and grow vertical solution expertise to support the development of targeted curriculum
  • Perform project management; defining, documenting, and tracking project tasks
  • Deliver content for alpha, beta, or instructor-readiness events as needed
  • Participate in exam development, including drafting test definitions, test objectives, and exam items
  • Perform peer review of course and lab content
  • Demonstrate strong editorial knowledge and ability to self-edit and proofread training content
  • Develop strong product and tool troubleshooting skills
  • Support other department initiatives as identified by the manager

Basic Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design, training development, or training delivery for a technical audience
  • Experience in reading API documentation and working with back-end methods and parameters
  • Experience in web development and proficiency in one or more of the following front-end technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and any JS libraries and frameworks
  • Experience using third-party APIs and application best practices in integrating APIs into custom applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to design & develop technical course curriculum, including content samples of both instructor-led and self-paced courses
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly and independently research, test, and learn software products for the purpose of training others
  • Basic graphics development and visual design skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in industry-standard course development applications & tools
  • Strong project management skills
