Essential Job Functions:

The position is for a Sr. Software Engineer to guide the design and develop an enterprise level Train Control System for Railroad customers.

 

In this role, the Sr. Software Engineer is expected to work on software development and maintenance of the Unified Train Control System (UTCS). UTCS system is an enterprise level system used by Railroad to control train movement and planning functions. Sr. Software Engineer in this role is expected to work closely with the software development and test team in providing root cause analysis and solution for the issues reported by customers. The Sr. Software Engineer is also expected to guide the junior software development team members in performing sub-system and system level software verification testing. The Sr. Software Engineer will utilize experience or expertise to solve team problems, develop and execute objectives for the team, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

 

?        Participate in the software design, development and maintenance tasks on the UTCS project,

?        Perform application supportworking closely with the customer support team, to diagnose and resolve customer reported issues and anomalies,

?        Work as an team leader and provide guidance to the software development team

Qualifications

 

?        10 to 15 years of hands on C++ experience with solid object oriented concepts and proactive

?        Experience in working large scale C++ legacy applications.

?        Hands on Fast learner who can adapt to new and changing domain and business requirements

?        Good understanding of Client Server model with solid ability to debug complex multithreaded applications

?        Experience in interfacing with Java UI and good knowledge and hands on DB interfacing experience. It will be an advantage to have hands on Versant Object Database or similar Object DBs

?        Experience in working Agile Scrum models adaptive to team needs and customer agility

?        Proven skills in Technical Documentation and requirements based development

?        Ability to mentor junior level developers

?        Good Communication and writing skills. Expecting to work closely with customer and end user technical team.

?        Any previous experience will in Railroad industry will be a value add

?        Typical 8 hour days plus lunch / 40 hour weeks / core (required) hours are 9 AM to 4 PM

?        Ability to use personal transportation to visit customer locations.
