To provide general direction and support to all work groups involved in the operation of the plant and provide this support on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis; This position will specifically serve as the team leader over the I&C Technicians at the McIntosh Combined Cycle site. This position will also serve alongside the other Operations TLs and be responsible for day to day operation of the plant including but not limited to, communicating with Fleet Operations, providing support to the operations training program including the site simulator and procedure development, working with Planning and Scheduling department to ensure effective outages and maintenance activities, procuring materials and reviewing/approving invoices, coordinating various contractor provided services and overseeing those projects to insure quality workmanship and value for cost of service. This position provides leadership to McIntosh CC employees to maximize plant reliability and efficiency while complying with all safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements. The incumbent will provide coaching through performance management for each member of the team, seeking to develop the employees’ skills for future opportunities. As a member of the Plant leadership team the incumbent will provide input concerning potential work method, process, or equipment improvements that would contribute to the success of the Plant.

This position will support the Retail ORB (Operations Review Board) process; support the System Ownership Program; foster the culture established at McIntosh CC and lead by example. This position also assumes total responsibility for on-site activities when the Plant Manager and O&M manager are not available.

The incumbent will serve as incident commander during emergency situations and may be required to serve on hurricane critical force team.

Job Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the Operation & Maintenance of electric generating plants required.

  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of a Combined Cycle plant preferred.

  • Education, training or prior experience with instrumentation and controls preferred

  • Demonstrated leadership experience (such as, but not limited to: previous supervisory experience, experience subbing as a leader, leader of a project/assignment, system owner, union steward, or leadership role in a community organization preferred. Demonstrated ownership and involvement.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Analytical skills necessary to determine current and future operating conditions and trends for optimizing plant performance.

  • Well-developed set of analytical skills capable of troubleshooting a wide variety of simple and interrelated systems.

  • Ability to identify and implement process improvements

  • Must be flexible, forward- thinking, and strategic-minded.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent ability to work well with and develop teams.

  • Knowledge of Turbine and BOP instrumentation and controls.

  • Thorough understanding of the IBEW contract agreement.

  • Knowledge of environmental, safety and OSHA regulations.

  • Knowledge of Capital and O&M Budget process preferred.

  • Proficient with power plant systems and components.

  • Strong planning and coordination abilities.

  • Self-motivated.

  • Customer focused

  • Maximo experiencepreferred.

  • Computer skills required.
