Team Lead - Database Systems Engineering

CSC is looking for an enthusiastic leader to help grow, develop, and lead the Database Systems Engineering team within Infrastructure Services. The Database Systems Engineering team responsibilities include architecture and implementation of various database platforms & related services at our headquarters in Wilmington, DE. This role will be responsible for aligning, coordinating, and overseeing completion of projects and support initiatives in alignment with company goals and core values. Additional responsibilities will include but not be limited to, developing team members to continuously increase their skillset, and contribute to a high functioning, healthy, and productive team .

Some of the things you will be doing:

  • Guide a group of employees as they complete projects by developing timelines, directing priorities for the team, and delegating the project components to team members.

  • Ensuring that projects assigned to the team are completed successfully and on time.

  • Oversee the design, administration, and deployment of Database Installation, Configuration for business-critical applications as performed by members of the team.

  • Perform engineering, architecture, and Tier 3 level design and support for a wide array of enterprise technology solutions.

  • Assist the team by identifying and removing impediments.

  • Create and maintain standards that are in line with the business values of speed, stability, scalability, and security.

  • Ensure that audit controls are maintained and vulnerabilities are addressed based on necessary timelines.

  • Provide mentoring and coaching to team members and otherinfrastructure resources.

  • Set team goals and assist in the review process.

What technical skills, experience, and qualifications do you need?

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline or equivalent job experience of 10+ years.

  • Experience leading a high performing team of 8 or more.

  • Ability to provide technical leadership.

  • Ability to think strategically and proactively (rather than reactionary)

  • Strong problem resolution skills.

  • Strong commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction.

  • Strong Focus on Database Availability, Security & Scalability.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, highly dynamic environment and “learn on the job”.

  • Comprehensive experience with Oracle Database 11g, 12c including High Availability & Disaster Solutions like Oracle RAC & Oracle Data Guard or SQL Servers 2012,2014 with High Availability Options including but not limited to WSFC,Always ON Availability Groups.

  • Experience on Backup and Recovery implementation using Oracle RMAN is a must.

  • Hands-on experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager Administration.

  • Experience with Databases like MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL is preferred.

  • Experience with Replication Technologies like GoldenGate is a plus.

  • Experience with configuration management systems like Puppet, Ansible is a plus

  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESX or similar virtualization technology.

  • Hands-on experience with Database backups using Symantec Netbackup or similar solutions

  • Shell scriptingexperience with at least one scriptinglanguage: Bourne shell, bash, Zsh, sed, awk or Perl, Python.

  • Experience building Distributed Application platforms using Docker is a plus.

  • Strong focus on automation.
