The Talent Development team is a growing team and function within Neiman Marcus. Its main objective is to provide talent development and learning opportunities to support our Ignite to Win growth strategy and improve organization effectiveness.

Responsibilities

The Talent Development Director will provide organization effectivness consulting and support for all NMG organizations, as well as leadership for NMG corporate learning. This position supports execution of the Talent Development and Learning agenda, and will be based at Neiman Marcus – Talent Development (Dallas, TX).

The Talent Development Director will lead a team of learning and organization development managers and specialists.

Learning responsibilities include:

  • Assesses the effectiveness of current training and development programs and provides analysis and recommendations for improvement and increased impact/ROI

  • Leads learning needs analysis for client groups, and defines learning strategies and curriculums for client groups and NMG overall

  • Ensures Learning Strategy for NMG addressed highest priority skill/knowledge gaps and manages process for effectively addressing learning requests

  • Ensures that training objectives are aligned with business strategies and are consistently executed

  • Plans and manages training development (both technical and soft skills), delivery, and assessment of value added:

    • Identifies and communicates training opportunities, and acts as training contact for managers and associates, to answer questions and resolve issues

    • Designs appropriate training content using authoring software when needed (e.g. Adobe Captivate)

    • Collaborates with instructional designers and other trainers and Subject Matter Experts on various learning projects

    • Manages training content (e.g. shared servers and intranet)

    • Delivers technical and soft skills training

    • Participates as needed in administering training related activities for instructor-led, webinar and eLearning delivery formats

    • Uses LMS to load courses, communicate with participants, track and report attendance, etc.

    • Provides training support for store openings (may require some minimal travel)

Talent Development responsibilities include the ability to perform the following activities, as well as manage others in performing these activities:

  • Provides Organization Development/Effectiveness support for NMG organizations and leaders

    • Consults with and facilitates managers and executives in the organization in assessing organization or individual performance issues and identifying and evaluating practical solutions

    • Plans and implements talent solutions to positively impact manager/associate performance and/or organization/team performance

    • Projects may include: Organization/role design, team design, team development, leader development, leader integration, change management, performance support, addressing specific performance or behavior issues/gaps, etc.

  • Develops detailed project plans, implements projects and evaluates project results

  • Teams collaboratively across the Talent Development and other HR teams in planning, designing and executing talent solutions/programs

  • Participates in development and delivery of leadership programs and assessments; Leads management/leader assessment process, including development of assessment approaches and tools, as well as conducting leader 360 feedback sessions

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree (Masters Degree preferred) in Organization Development or a related field, combined with a minimum of 10 to 12 years of progressive experience, ideally within a customer focused organization.

Demonstrated experience in strategic design and execution of learning, organization development and leadership programs, as well as advanced knowledge of learning and organization development theory and practical application. In addition, the candidate should possess:

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including outstanding presentation and group facilitation skills, and ability to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively with all levels of the organization

  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to all levels of the organization

  • Highly developed consultative skills. Superior collaboration and client service orientation; proven ability to build consensus, develop strong relationships at all levels within an organization and successfully design and implement talent solutions and programs

  • Experience with the application of adult learning theories, accelerated learning techniques and other training methodologies used in the development and design of training curriculum and programs

  • Significant experience in organizational development, talent management, leadership development, succession planning and performance management

  • Technical proficiency as well as advanced software skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, web conferencing applications, and authoring software similar to Adobe Captivate)

  • Experience with e-Learning / learning management systems

  • Strong team leadership skills and experience: Must be professional, energetic, self-motivated, able to motivate others, and have a positive attitude

  • Excellent planning and organization skills

  • Strong attention to detail; strong quality assurance skills

  • Some travel may be required
