The Sr. Systems Engineer will technically lead support efforts in the KC Colo hosting facilitiy and all corporate offices. This includes installation, configuration, and maintenance of storage, network and server infrastructure equipment.
The Sr. Systems Engineer is expected to deliver high quality, comprehensive Level III technical support on the Mediware suite of products within the Data Center Hosting environment. Team members are expected to engage in complex infrastructure deployments via case work tracking and direct communication with customers. Candidates for this position will respond, troubleshoot and assist in the resolution of operating system, hardware, networking and storage (SAN, NAS) infrastructure requests and issues encountered in hosted environments. At this level, documentation creation and team mentoring are critical facets.
Principal Functions of the Job:
Hardware and Networking Equipment
Install, configure and support new and existing NetApp, Nimble, Spectre Verde, and Synology SAN hardware
Install, configure and support Cisco UCS, HP, and Dell servers
Manage and maintain 100's of virtual servers in a VMware environment
Install, configure and support Cisco/Juniper switches, routers, firewall and other network equipment
Monitor, diagnose and repair hardware and network issues related to connectivity, performance, equipment failures or other related problems
Assists with implementing and managing security program
Assists with the documentation of datacenter systems
Assists with hardware and software inventory
Operating Systems and Software
Install, configure and support all modern versions of Microsoft Windows Server
Manage and monitor VMware environment
Assists with the administration of Microsoft Active Directory
Assists with software updates and hot fix management
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical field
Minimum 8years work experience in the IT Industry, preferably at least 5 years in Hosting Services, detailed areas below:
Systems administration and support in complex, mixed-vendor computing environments
Network administration and support in TCP/IP-based LAN/WAN environments
Virtual Private Network administration and support
Operating System Virtualization technology administration and support
Third-party IT Vendor Management
Senior level experience with 3 of the 4 following technologies: Citrix, VMware, SAN, and UCS.
Knowledgeable of HIPAA and other related regulatory requirements for Healthcare IT, preferred
Excellent troubleshooting, listening and problem-solving skills
Able to work in a fast paced stressful environment
Proficient Microsoft Office skills
Works well in a team environment
