Systems Engineer, Senior

Key Role: 
Perform system engineering services, including updating or providing an as-is characterization of the existing system and its architecture, management, and documentation. Work closely with teams performing ongoing technology evaluation and feasibility studies to inform engineering plans. Provide a set of written engineering recommendations with rigorous justifications using data and metrics as guidelines to improve system performance. Create or update a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in consultation with others to standardize administration processes for the system. Develop and provide engineering plans that specify a system architecture that meets current and projected future requirements covering multiple areas, including Cybersecurity, model improvements, test and operational systems, information technology contingency, and external service providers. Provide status updates demonstrations, briefs, and documentation on proposed system functionality and interfaces to the project team, operations department personnel, IT systems department personnel, and other stakeholders. This position is located in Monterey, CA.

Basic Qualifications: 

-3+ years of experience with system engineering or project management

-Experience with enterprise-level projects or Cloud-based environments

-Experience with working in or supporting an operational environment

-Experience with engineering requirements, specifications, and documentation

-Knowledge of Linux operating systems

-Knowledge of DoD or Navy engineering practices and documentation, including the DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF)

-Secret clearance

-BA or BS degree in CS, IT, Physical Science, Engineering, or Mathematics or 6+ additional years of experience with engineering

-Security+ or CISSP Certification within 3 months of hire

-Linux+ Certification within 3 months of hire

Additional Qualifications: 

-Experience with working on DoD programs, including Navy programs

-Knowledge of high performance computing environments

-Knowledge of Portable Batch System (PBS) job scheduling software

-Knowledge of DoD and Navy Cybersecurity policy

-Ability to work independently or with minimal direction

-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

-CSEP, PMP, or equivalent certification
