Description
The Systems Engineer is responsible for all aspects of systems administration for the infrastructure team and associated applications in a multi-site environment.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead, coordinate, and participate in key process improvements for all environments throughout the organization.
- Installation, configuration, maintenance of Windows Server 2012/2016.
- Manage Microsoft System System Center Configuration Manager for software distribution, updates and server imaging.
- Installation, configuration and maintenance of VMware ESXi and Hyper-V environments.
- ADFS design and integration with SaaS/Azure and SAML providers.
- Designing and implementing Microsoft Clustering and load balancing.
- Participate in the design and review of new Windows systems and Windows application deployments in both workstations and servers.
- Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of Windows systems to meet corporate objectives.
- Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
- Help establish and implement policies and procedures.
- Ensure that servers comply with established policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines.
- Define and implement strategies for integrating Windows and non-Windows operating environments.
- Knowledge of disaster recovery methods and procedures.
- Monitor and test system performance; provide statistics and reports.
- Recommend and execute modifications to Windows systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Ability to write and update concise and logical technical documentation, including, but not limited to, diagrams, charts, specifications and design models.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation during off hours and weekends.
- Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
- Perform preventative maintenance as directed.
- Maintains an ongoing in-depth level of professional development to enhance technical skills, communication skills, business knowledge, and knowledge of IT products.
- Other duties as assigned.
What we’re looking for:
- 5-15 years’ experience in System Engineering, experience with server administration of VMware, Windows Server 2008 R2 – 2016, Hyper-V on WS 2012 R2. Experience with complete System Engineering Lifecycle including proposal development, preparation of technical papers, requirements analysis and large-scale systems development.
- Experience as a senior level administrator.
- Experience with variety of storage systems, backup systems and systems automation.
- Experience with VMWare, VCenter, and Hyper-V including design and engineering, as well as advanced administration.
- Experience working with cloud technologies such as Azure, and the O365 suite.
- Experience with designing and implementing Active Directory and related services DNS, DHCP, DFS and GPOs.
- Experience supporting Enterprise storage solutions, preferably Data Domain and EMC.
- Experience in virtualization, distributed file systems, data replication between sites, disaster recovery and backup systems.
- Ability to build effective relationships across the business and provide excellent service.
- Understanding project management practices and principals.
- Previous experience doing IT troubleshooting in a production environment.
- Knowledge of clustering and load balancing.
- Working knowledge of network and desktop administration in a LAN environment.
Bonus Points:
- Microsoft, VMWare, storage certifications and training strongly recommended.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Science or related field and/or equivalent technical degree
Travel:
What you’ll be doing:
- Work daily in Microsoft Azure to build, maintain, and improve our cloud-hosted customer and internal environments.
- Implement automation to perform the day-to-day operations functions of the Park Place cloud platform and on-prem environment.
- Conduct research into emerging Cloud technologies and trends, standards and products as required.
What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years of Cloud engineering or applicable cloud experience
