The Systems Engineer will be primarily responsible for development of advanced automotive surround view systems including various aspects of telematics, safety, security, and convenience. The Systems Engineer will use their software skills to create system proof of concepts (POC) while interfacing with partner suppliers, internal program team and corporate advanced product development team in Japan. In addition, the Systems Engineer will interface with potential OEM customers and end users to understand the desires of the NA market in order to drive product development and create NA specifications.

 

Responsibilities:

 

-Lead and manage efforts on POC system integration by coordinating with partners and internal teams regarding design, functions, specifications, applications and timing.

-Be the liaison between SoC supplier and technology partner to ensure efficient communication, transfer of necessary operational knowledge, application programming interface needs, algorithm development and schedule tracking.

-Gain in-depth understanding of questions, concerns and issues from team interaction in order to facilitate quick resolution and better understand the necessary tasks going forward.

-Learn software architecture and be able to integrate software from technology partner with SoC supplier OS and API needs.

-Create and maintain project timeline for task management as required.

-Recommend, design and implementation of functions, features, software/electronic interface, and applications in conjunction with various technologies and needs.

-Participate in preliminary development activities in identifying feature and system requirements.

-Actively manage troubleshooting and root cause analysis during POC system integration in demo vehicle.

-Work with suppliers and partner engineers for system recommendation, device selection, programming, and system integration.

-Ability to review and discuss software related issues with development team in Japan as necessary.

-Develop and maintain open issue list for meetings with customer, partner suppliers, and internal product development teams.

-Support customer presentations and implementation of prototype product with OEM teams as needed.

-Maintain awareness of technology and market trends relating to server applications, smartphone applications, IT security, etc. in NA and prepare reports as necessary.

-Report to management on project progress and concerns.

-Travel requirements – will require travel to Japan, West Coast and to various states for performing customer demos and information gathering

 

Qualifications:

 

-Minimum 5 years of experience in embedded/software development.

-Image signal processing experience.

-Image recognition/detection algorithm development experience.

-Extensive working knowledge with Linux and/or other OS.

-Working knowledge of DSP, GPU, Open CL, and Open CV.

-Working knowledge of software development tools (debugger’s, compilers, etc.).

-Working knowledge of physical communication buses including: I2C, RS232, SPI or other serial interfaces.

-Requires C/C++ programming background and experience developing products with embedded operating systems.

-UML and Software documentation experience (CMMI or SPICE preferred).

-Minimum education: BSEE, BSCS, or BSCE or comparable experience. MSEE, MSCS or MSCE preferred.

-Hands on technical expertise in major RTOS/Kernel, IDEs, Debug/Test tools, Version Control, and Microprocessor/Micro Controller utilized in development of automotive electronic components.

-Hands on experience with development of applications for embedded automotive OS such as Windows, Linux, and QNX.

-Experience with wireless communications protocols: LTE, CDMA, GSM, SMS, Bluetooth, WiFi.

-Knowledge of vehicle BUS network communication and electrical requirements (CAN, LIN, MOST, etc.).

-Willing to support and work on various issues as needed such as mechanical, electrical, and software issues to make sure on-time deliveries and quality customer support.

-Willing to work with cross-cultural teams.

-Proficiency with MS software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).

-Ability to travelinternationally.
