DUTIES:           

Support large UNIX environments running critical financial transactions. Responsible for 24x7 support. Analyze, develop, interpret and evaluate complex systems design and architecture specifications, data models, and diagrams in the development, configuration, and integration of computer systems. Provide troubleshooting, answers calls, and drive root cause resolution. Research, analyze, evaluate, and monitor network infrastructure to ensure networks for Unix Servers are configured to operate at optimal performance. Perform audits including PCI, SOX, and PII. Assess and recommend improvements to network operations and integrated software communications and operating systems within UNIX environment. Work closely with the application development organization and other functional IT areas to determine best practices, tuning, and problem resolution in the UNIX space. Monitor network traffic and activity in the servers. Responsible for KPI targeting, trending analysis, and creation of formal documentation. Responsible for implementation of scheduled scripts, problem analysis, and resolution. Recommend strategies for process and monitoring improvement. Provide technical consulting on the use and integration of the UNIX and system utilities, tools, and applications. Use IBM hardware's RS6000, Power Series P5/P6/P7, HP Blade Servers, IBM AIX, Redhat Linux, CENTOS, BMC Remedy, CA Service Desk, HP Opsware, Splunk, and Saltstack tools.

  REQTS:         

    Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field plus five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or as a Senior Specialist (UNIX Administration), or a related position. Must have five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with: analyzing, developing, interpreting, and evaluating complex systems design and architecture specifications, data models, and diagrams in the development, configuration, and integration of computer systems; researching, analyzing, evaluating, and monitoring network infrastructure to ensure networks for Unix Servers are configured to operate at optimal performance; assessing and recommending improvements to network operations and integrated software communications and operating systems within UNIX environment; monitoring network traffic and activity in the servers; implementation of scheduled scripts, problem analysis, and resolution; IBM hardware's RS6000; Power Series P5/P6/P7; HP Blade Servers; IBM AIX; Redhat Linux; CENTOS; BMC Remedy; CA Service Desk; and HP Opsware. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master's degree and two (2) years of related experience. Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
