The PSPC Senior Associate Implementation Systems Engineer assists in designing and implementing complex First Responder radio, network and communication systems that satisfy specific customer contractual requirements. Systems involve Harris, COTS and special vendor equipment. These systems typically include RF Base Station & Repeater equipment, microwave links, IP networks, wireless data, RF antenna subsystems, 911 dispatch and/or other custom subsystems.
The Senior Associate will work on Harris modified Windows & UNIX based platforms as well as various security platforms used within the Harris network. The Senior Associate will work closely with a team of engineers to deploy and commission high availability Land Mobile Radio systems. The Senior Associate must understand IP networking, network tunneling, and Microwave components. The Senior Associate must be familiar with virtual machine (VMWARE) architecture, windows and UNIX platforms. The Senior Associate should have familiarity with RF concepts as they apply to Land Mobile Communications.
The successful candidate will work with guidance from senior engineers to resolve identified problems, follow defined ISO processes, and properly report project progress. The candidate will work with senior engineers to provide contracted deliverables to customers, including but not limited to drawings, network designs and IP plans, and perform RF mapping functions as examples. The Senior Associate will work with guidance with increasing responsibility for individual phases of a Land Mobile Radio Project.
The Implementation Systems Engineering team drives improvement in the program implementation process by actively participating in every phase of the design, manufacturing, configuration and implementation of Harris Land Mobile Radio systems, looking for new ways to simplify, improve and streamline our program operations. They will be involved in technical planning, system integration, functional verification, performance validation, and process improvement vs cost/risk analysis.
The Senior Associate will participate in discussions with customers, consultants, vendors and other Harris personnel as necessary to advance projects.
Approximately 50% time will be spent in Harris facilities and verification and 50% field travel.
