Job Description:

Systems Engineer responsible for the development, engineering, interface and integration of all components of complex hardware/software systems.  Ensures the logical and systematic allocation/derivation of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule and cost constraints and translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.  Performs system integration, including Code and Unit Test activities in development labs and developing integration procedures and writing Site Integration Plans.  Directs integration activities and ensures diligence and rigor are incorporated into integration activities to ensure projects are ready to proceed to the integration phase.  Establishes an engineering assessment of product maturity to proceed to formal test and release.  Interfaces with customer and determines customer needs and goals. Provides presentations to the customer and works with project/product team to accomplish customer development and deployment goals.  


  • Perform requirements elicitation, definition, and functional allocation to hardware and software segments and components
  • Conduct system requirements reviews and create and/or update requirement specifications and technical documentation. Review system engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete. 
  • Perform system modeling using MBSE tools and techniques to define system interfaces, requirements and behaviors and provide support to system design
  • Perform functional analysis, detailed trade studies and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Develop trade studies to guide selection of components to ensure requirement satisfaction. Develop/assess course of action alternatives in project development/product delivery
  • Develop and conduct test plans/procedures for software/hardware integration tests, be responsible for integration/execution, detailed data analysis, and preparation of software test reports
  • Coordinate execution of HW/SW integration tests to verify system operation. Coordinate daily integration activities with other team members
  • Perform integration and formal test analysis and document results for selloff of requirements
  • Participate in engineering peer reviews as a document originator or reviewer to ensure engineering rigor is appropriate for each project’s current lifecycle phase
  • Support the project management team by performing technical planning, including cost, risk and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems following a defined system design lifecycle process (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal)
  • Perform risk analysis, including identifying and assessing project risks.  Develop and execute risk mitigation plans and management of risks on projects.  Provide risk avoidance and risk mitigation strategies to project managers.
  • Support System Test and Evaluation by defining methods, processes, and evaluation criteria by which the systems, subsystems, and work products are verified against their requirements in a written plan
  • Assist in planning and conduct of O&M training
  • Occasional travel will be required to sensor sites to support installation and checkout at customer sites (including OCONUS)


  • 3+ years experience with BS/BA (Bachelors) or equivalent

 Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with requirements analysis and systems design within projects
  • Experience writing specifications, design, ConOps, and Interface Control Documents
  • The applicant should also have strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Communication and excellent presentation skills 
  • Previous experience supporting DoD/government customers a plus
  • Ability to write subsystem specification and requirements
  • Experience in MBSE/SysML modeling
  • Hardware/software requirement verification/system validation experience
  • Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, ability to interact with a cross functional team and act as customer interface for technical aspects
  • Leadership experience with medium and small project implementations.
  • Experience working directly with customers onsite at their facility.

  • Knowledge of MS Office suite of tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
