: The systems engineer will support acquisition program managers in the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) through: 

  • Developing and reviewing program documentation, including program management plans, program tailoring plans, systems engineering plans, integrated logistics support plans, acquisition program baselines, acquisition plans, configuration management plans, and others, under the supervision of the lead systems engineer
  • Preparing briefing materials and relevant white papers, as required by the program manager or lead systems engineer
  • Performing risk management, configuration management, and interface management tasks, under supervision of the lead systems engineer
  • Learning and applying open systems architecture principles to new system acquisition programs



  • Active DoD clearance (Secret or higher) and ability to obtain DHS Suitability
  • Education:
    • B.S. or B.A. and 10 years of experience
    • M.S. or M.A. and 5 years of experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes, such as analysis of alternatives, requirements analysis, configuration management, and interface management
  • Experience supporting acquisition activities and/or program offices to include planning, technical reviews, risk analysis, and schedule analysis

 Desired Qualifications: 

  • Current DHS Suitability
  • Demonstrated experience in chemical, biological, and radiological/nuclear engineering or science
  • Experience working with open systems architecture (OSA) concepts, acquisition, or engineering
  • Interest in applications of OSA
  • Knowledge of DHS programs and processes, including the Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC)
  • DAWIA Engineer Certification or equivalent
