Overview

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will work hands on to support the architecture, development, integration, testing, and verification of Electrical Power Systems for New Glenn. You will be an essential contributor to a multidisciplinary team responsible for a wide array of power electronics hardware and systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain budgets for tracking Electrical Power System (EPS) power, energy, power interfaces, and signal interfaces
  • Create and maintain drawings and diagrams for power distribution, system grounding and bonding
  • Perform analyses such as voltage drop/line loss, component derating/stress analysis, and worst case analysis
  • Create models and simulations of the EPS to evaluate use cases and conditions
  • Create interface definition and design specification documents from engineering documentation
  • Create and execute test plans for design and requirements verification
  • Design and build the test fixtures (hardware and software) needed for verification activities
  • Drive risk analyses, failure modes effects and criticality analyses (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), design for test/manufacture/cost (DFx), and guide overall design assurance
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, challenges as well as develop, plan, and impliment mitigations for these
  • Define, track, and evaluate system metrics
  • Create and maintain analysis tools and templates

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree or higher in an appropriate engineering field
  • 10+ years of Systems Engineering for Electrical Power Systems
  • Desire to work hands-on, as part of a team, in both development and production phases of a product lifecycle
  • Experience with SPICE analysis
  • Experience using Excel, Matlab, or other scriptinglanguage for analysis review and data presentation
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and integration practices for mission/safety-critical systems
  • Experience in project planning and successful execution of projects to cost and schedule targets
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Desired

  • 15+ years of Systems Engineering for launch vehicle or space craft Electrical Power Systems
  • Experience with analog and power electronics design
  • Experience with high voltage electronics
  • Experience testing electronics and integrated systems
  • Experience with electromagnetic interference and compatibility (EMI/EMC) and power quality requirements
  • Ability to develop analytical models of systems and design solutions
