Job Description

Commvault has an outstanding opportunity for a Managed Service Provider (MSP) Systems Engineer responsible for effectively managing and driving Commvault technical solutions and pre-sales activities in order to achieve business alignment and sales opportunity closure. This extremely important Systems Engineering role requires high levels of involvement in complex sales campaigns targeted with developing data management solutions for Managed Service Providers to market to their end users.

Commvault partners with many leading Managed Service Providers to simplify the complexities of data management.  The variations of the MSP marketplace have generated a wide array of business and technology opportunities in this space. The Systems Engineer will be viewed as the key resource in business and technology business development, supporting proposal production, alignment with the business challenges of MSPs, key stakeholder relationship building, and be the eyes and ears of Commvault for developments in the MSP marketplace. The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive technical (pre-sales and hands-on implementation) experience at an MSP, including the challenges of multi-tenancy, chargeback reporting, defining scalable and modular hardware infrastructures (storage, virtual server, complex security environments), and implementing the automation needed for operational efficiencies at large scale.  

Position Responsibilities include:

·Work closely with Commvault’s Cloud Solutions Group and Product Management teams for proper positioning of Commvault Data Platform in an MSP’s environment o Support development of partner relationships- be a “Technical Evangelist” for the MSP’s vertical solutions 

·Be well-versed on industry trends and the key players on the marketplace (Rackspace, AT&T, Amazon, Azure, etc.)

·Help MSPs see how they can add income streams by proposing, demonstrating and selling solutions based on the Commvault Data Platform of products to their end customers

·Develop specific areas of expertise in addition to maintaining broad product skills or Function as the MSP’s technical advocate for data management solutions, clearly defining and articulating MSP’s values and requirements toCommvault’s sales and internal teams

Position Qualifications include:

·BS or MS degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related technical field

·5-10 years of experience within the Managed Service Provider industry (either working at MSP’s or focused selling on MSPs).

·10-15 years’ experience serving in a pre-sales Systems Engineering role witha proven record of success

·Ability to develop and execute a Technical Business Plan to enhance ongoing maturation of MSP business model

·Understanding of MSP sales cycle, detailed understanding of product integration issues.

·Willingness to perform product demonstrations with customers as part of a sales campaign

·Experience creating configurations for client’s needs based on interaction with the MSP.

·Excellent communication skills, expert sales presentation skills, persuasive influence and negotiation skills.

·Strong facilitation and interpersonal / relationship-building skills.

·A self-starter, able to manage multiple projects and effectively prioritize scheduling of activities.

·Experience on large enterprise data infrastructure projects (virtual computing, storage, security, etc.).

·This position requires travel to be determined by the needs of the business – 30-40% regional travel expected with occasional national travel within the Americas.
