We are looking for an experienced Systems Automation Engineer to join our team of infrastructure operations and automation specialists. The primary purpose of this team is to build or implement platform automation tooling and to provide performance, security and resilience support.

Primary Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Complex problem solving for infrastructure, architecture, and software related issues
  • Infrastructure Stewardship
  • Reduce complexity wherever possible through automation
  • Implement tools, infrastructure, and software for automation
  • Design and documentation of complex solutions
  • Perform infrastructure analysis
  • Respond to events related to system performance, security, and general system health
  • Perform & document root cause analysis for issues
  • Implement "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) as part of your solutions
  • Social Stewardship
  • Participate in code reviews
  • Participate in agile rituals such as daily stand-up meetings, sprint planning, etc.
  • Mentor and train peers
  • Advocate for new tools and techniques across the organization
  • Continuous learning in support of our environments

Qualifications

  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong experience with Linux systems engineering (config, design, security), with particular focus on commands and scripting
  • Experience with complex and distributed systems over a range of technologies
  • Ability to adapt to various tools, technologies, and languages
  • Experience configuring and managing infrastructure components, particularly with IaC solutions
  • Curiosity about technology
  • Fearless when approaching a problem; not hindered by lack of experience with a specific tool
  • Experience with 1 or more of the following technologies:
  • Containers and container orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Configuration Management (Ansible, puppet, chef, salt)
  • Infrastructure as code (CloudFormation, Terraform, etc.)
  • Cloud technology (public and/or private) (Openstack, AWS, Azure, ect.)
  • Scripting languages (bash, Python)
  • Networking knowledge
  • Security knowledge
  • Devops exposure (specific tools include Jenkins and Terraform)
