Job Description:

We are looking for a Senior Systems Architect / DevOps Engineer that will be responsible for managing and automating our infrastructure from development to production. You will join an existing team of senior software engineers and bring an Operations-oriented thought process to our existing development paradigm. As the company grows this position will grow a full operations department below you, and thus offers great growth potential. You will report to the Vice President ofEngineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and operate production and internal environments
  • Implement security infrastructure and sound security processes and controls
  • Work closely with our developers
  • Provide feedback on business requirements documentation toensure resolution of any apparent ambiguity or contradictions.
  • Participation in the selection and implementation of third party software and infrastructure to support design and maintenance.
  • Developing and communicating workload estimates
  • Delivering projects within estimated effort and time frames
  • Conduct design reviews with stakeholder team
  • Communicate issues and status information to stakeholder team

Requirements

Experience - Required:

  • 3-5 years of Linux-based system administration
  • Exceptional skill in at least one programming language (Python, Perl or Ruby scores extra points)
  • Data storage architecture and management (PostgreSQL and Redis a plus)
  • Programmatic approach to scalability
  • Experience with at least one IT automation suite (Puppet, Chef, Ansible, etc.)
  • Experience with Git or similar SCM
  • Experience setting up and managing processes such as monitoring (Nagios/Check_MK), backup, patching etc.
  • Experienced in estimating effort and elapsed time required tocomplete project deliverables
  • Troubleshooting (especially under fire)
  • Loves writing documentation
  • Understands operational support of development teams
  • Speaks and writes English fluently
  • Excellent communication skills -- interpersonal, verbal and written
  • Sense of urgency and thrives in an incredibly fast-paced environment

Experience – Nice to Have:

  • Practical experience with sharding and extreme data scalability and redundancy
  • Experience setting up and operating Amazon EC2 and AWS-basedinfrastructure
  • Extreme Networks networking experience
  • Have planned for and successfully passed a certification such as SOC-2
  • Past success in a start-up environment
