The International Studies Office (ISO) is currently seeking a Systems and Technical Coordinator, Education Abroad to join their team. The ISO is a University-wide resource which contributes to UVA's global mission through activities, programs and services designed to support the development of a globally aware, culturally diverse education and research environment. Through the International Students and Scholars Program, UVA Education Abroad, and the Lorna Sundberg International Center, the ISO provides expertise and infrastructure to help expand and sustain global education at the University of Virginia.


The Systems and Technical Coordinator, Education Abroad manages the ISO Terra Dotta Software (TDS) for Study Abroad account, and assists the supervisor, director and peers with drafting Education Abroad policies, developing procedures, setting timelines, and administering ISO managed scholarships. The Systems and Technical Coordinator also utilizes qualitative and quantitative data to analyze and assess efforts to increase participation in education abroad, increase access to education abroad, increase average duration of time abroad and to assess target learning outcomes. Additionally, the Coordinator will have a small advising caseload and liaise with other units and schools within the University.Job Duties Include:

Administration and Leadership

  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement in the International Studies Office by demonstrating excellence and professionalism.
  • Support TDS training for new EA advising and administrative support staff and refresher/professional development training for current staff.
  • Assist Supervisor, Director, and peers with drafting EA policies, developing procedures, setting timelines, and administering ISO managed scholarships.
  • Utilize qualitative and quantitative data to analyze and assess efforts to increase participation in education abroad, increase access to education abroad, and increase average duration of time abroad and to assess target learning outcomes.
  • Hold regular advising hours for a small caseload of undergraduate students interested in education abroad.
  • Undertake special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

SIS-TDS Administration


  • Manage the ISO Terra Dotta Software (TDS) for Study Abroad account, including software updates and testing.
  • Collaborate with ITS to comply with data security policies and best practices.
  • Evaluate TDS functionality to support business processes; plan and implement use with input from ISO and partner offices.
  • Oversee maintenance of system settings and infrastructure to support administrative and traveler needs.
  • Trouble-shoot as needed.
  • Maintain coherence of the on-line application process, based on the business need, system functionality, client needs, and university policy and procedures.
  • With Supervisor and Director, define roles, permission groups, and corresponding protocols.
  • Manage access to TDS and create training materials and documentation to support groups of users.
  • Maintain records of procedures and revise as needed.

Student Records Administration


  • Coordinate SIS-related EA processes with the Office of Summer and Special Academic Programs and the ISO Business Manager.
  • Coordinate issuing transcripts for non-UVA students on UVA EA programs with UREG.
  • Serve as a liaison to SFS for the purposes of financial aid.
  • Serve as liaison to other units and schools of the University for travel registry purposes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree or Equivalent

Experience: At least three years of experience including enterprise database systems management, data collection, data analysis, and education abroad advising and program administration. Additionally, experience with administrative processes in higher education is required. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Computer Skills: TDS, SIS, HTML, MS Office Suite

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master's Degree

Experience: Three to four years of TDS system administration.

Computer Skills: Web Design Applications
