About This Opportunity

The Systems Analyst II is a key member of the Application Ownership team.  This is a small team of 8 and is responsible for supporting the IT Financial Services organization backend applications.  There are currently over 80 applications that include:

  • VMS
  • GreenCard
  • General purpose reloadable gift card applications
  • Website support for 36 cardholder websites
  • Toll & Transit - Utah Transit Authority
  • eRewards
  • eGift
  • B2B
  • A variety of other applications such as Fraud Detection and direct deposit

Although the Systems Analyst II is on the Application Ownership team, this role is more than just a support role.  A healthy amount of this role will include sever engineering.   The Systems Analyst will be responsible for maintaining systems once it’s handed over by the server support team.  The SA II will own the applications from the beginning to the end of the life of the applications. 


The Systems Analyst II should have a background with the following:

  • JBOSS, Windows & Linux Administration
  • Java
  • Load Balancer
  • SQL Queries for SQL Server or Oracle
  • Understanding of how to build servers
  • Previous DB experience, running and writing scripts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Breadth of experience and the ability to handle multiple technologies and disciplines


  • Continuously monitor the platform for operational excellence elements for process improvements
  • Work in a 24x7 work environment and experience with on call procedures
  • Owner of platform and knowledgeable of all operational and maintenance activities up to monitoring the efforts 
  • Create complex SQL queries and understand SQL scripts
  • Parse, analyze and understand system log files
  • Customer Service orientation with the ability to effectively interact with users of all levels
  • Able to proactively address system issues that have potential impact for the corporation
  • Strong research, analytical, and troubleshooting skills Support after hours coverage/escalation
  • Plan solutions and coordinate with development team
  • Provide design considerations and write technical requirements
  • Collaborate with QA testing in the research and writing of test cases along with participating in system testing
  • Engage in production deployment for coordination and verification as the owner of the platform
  • Own platform and knowledgeable of all operational and maintenance activities up to monitoring the efforts
  • Create and maintain documentation on the platform, such as platform details, playbooks, escalation procedures, and any other that becomes a necessity
  • Creation of current state of system flow that will be used as an artifact for future development and troubleshooting
  • Deploy, configure, document and debug software, while properly escalating issues to meet deadlines.
  • Understand the overall architecture of various applications and communicate with ease with different partner teams.
  • Work closely with teams on Development & Maintenance projects and coordinate with Operations, Network, Infrastructure, Database and other partner teams on behalf of Application Ownership team for any task execution that requires their involvement.



  • 3 to 5 years of experience in supporting applications in Java
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer related field or equivalent experiencepreferred.
  • Any other technical certifications a plus.
  • Ability to lead and mentor team members.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, system integration and set up
  • Strong knowledge of server design and set up
  • Experience with TIBCO analysis and troubleshooting
  • Familiarity with SPLUNK
  • Experience with T-SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle DB
  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating Systems
  • Ability to create, updatewindows and unix shell script files preferred
  • Familiarity with an enterprise incident ticketing system
  • Customer Service orientation with the ability to effectively interact with users of all levels
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL or DevOps process
  • Experience with management of projects
  • Experience with implementing and deploying code
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-administration, attention to detail, multi-tasking, prioritization, critical thinking and analysis, decision-making, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal interactions (ability to foster a cooperative work environment)
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and understand key issues quickly
  • Strong background and experience in System/Application Design and Support


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
