Job Summary:

The Systems Administrator II (or Senior Systems Administrator) is responsible for the stable operation of the company network and technology systems. This includes planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, servers, storage, and communication links as well as working alongside the support team to help resolve systems issues. This individual works closely with the IT service desk team and user departments and managers.

Essential Functions:

  • Build and support virtualized infrastructure (VMWare)
  • Optimize and support backup and recovery systems (VEEAM)
  • Strong working knowledge of SAN technologies (Nimble, EMC)
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows Server technologies (DFS, AD, PKI)
  • Strong working knowledge of switches and routing technologies (e.g., Cisco, iOS)
  • Develop scripts to automate daily job functions (PowerShell / Python)
  • SQL Server administration
  • Implement, monitoring, and optimization of backend systems and on-prem servers
  • Document workflows, processes, procedures, and configurations of infrastructure services
  • Rotating on-call schedule

Qualifications and Requirements (Education, Experience, Specific Skills):

  • Minimum of Five years of systems administration experience
  • Professional experience with the following:
    • Active Directory
    • Cisco Unified Communications systems
    • Cisco Network Technologies (Switches, Routers, ASAs, security, DMZ)
    • MS System Center (SCOM & SCCM)
    • Cisco Telepresence technologies (including WebEx)
    • MS Server and security technologies
    • PowerShell scripting
    • Virtualization technologies (VMware)
    • Storage area networks (SAN, NAS, iSCSI)
    • MS Exchange Office 365
    • On call availability
    • Remote Access technologies (VPN, Direct Access)
    • IT Departmental governance – (e.g., Change Control) for regulated company
    • SSO authentication technologies (OKTA, SAML, MFA)
  • Familiarity with some of the following technologies and concepts strongly desired:
    • MS SQL Server
    • MS Dynamics products (CRM, NAV specifically)
    • VMWare Virtualization
    • Public Key Infrastructure
    • Experience with enterprise-class hardware from Cisco and HPE
    • Familiarity working in a regulated environment (ISO, FDA, SOX)
    • Biotech and/or specialized high-tech manufacturing background
    • SOX regulated environment (SOX IT compliance)
    • Relevant training or experience
    • ERP and CRM enterprise wide systems – administration, database, report-writing, Change Control
