IAI is seeking a System Engineer to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for supporting NOAA’s National Weather Service (NWS) Spectrum Efficient National Surveillance Radar (SENSR) program. The SENSR program will assess the feasibility of making a minimum of 30 MHz in the 1300 – 1350 MHz band available for reallocation for shared federal and potential non- federal use by acquiring new surveillance solutions. The NWS is considering SENSR as a possible replacement of its existing weather surveillance system.
The ideal candidate will have experience with the NWS Weather Surveillance Rader (WSR-88D) system. They will be working with the Government to conduct a feasibility study in conjunction with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The candidate will conduct engineering analyses including development of concepts of operations (ConOps), requirements, and Analysis of Alternatives (AoA). The candidate will also provide Joint Program Office support and may participate in market surveys or request for information (RFI) development. May perform independent work of significant technical value for Government and industry customers. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and a team player with excellent oral/written communication skills. The candidate will represent IAI in a variety of forums and interact regularly with senior government personnel.
- Conduct engineering analyses in support of SENSR ConOps, requirements, and AoA activities
- Incorporate NWS weather radar ConOps and command and control R&D concepts into the updated SENSR ConOps
- Identify and document the ability of Phased Array Radar (PAR) technology to meet NWS Radar functional requirements
- BS in engineering, physics, or a related field (MSpreferred)
- 10+ years’ experience in meeting the job requirements
- Strong technical writing and briefing skills
- Experience supporting NOAA, NWS, or PAR systems
