The System Director of Patient Placement is an integral part of the system nursing leadership team with responsibility and accountability for the overall management of operations that support patient flow. The System Director of Patient Placement plays a functional role in supporting departments and staff in successfully moving patients into the facilities in the most appropriate placement based on patient needs, staffing, bed management, and capacity.

The responsibilities include both directing and collaborating in system and process design particularly in the areas of patient access, placement and flow.

  • Maintains direct accountability for the financial and functional performance for specific services/departments assigned.
  • Works in full collaboration and cooperation with all areas to coordinate services that will support the strategic goals of the hospital.
  • Maintains responsibility for coordinating services of departments including staffing, operational policies and procedures, systems and programs, standards and compliance with all regulatory and legal requirements.
  • Establishes and achieves appropriate patient care standards and coordinates the services with the appropriate clinical management team.
  • Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned personnel using both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment.


Experience and education minimum requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)/relevant health care degree and a Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Informatics, Business Administration or related field to work effectively with administrative management
  • Consideration will be given to candidates with a Bachelor's Degree who are in pursuit of a Master's Degree.
  • 5 years of progressive management experience in a clinical environment
  • California State Registered Nursing License
