Job Description

Overview

Provides leadership, support, and guidance for medication management areas within the Dartmouth Health (DH) system. Responsible for coordinating with leadership on the development, implementation and monitoring of the inpatient, retail, and ambulatory space with respect to adherence to medication regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient safety. Organizes and leads policy and procedure review and development, manages quality assurance and process improvement projects, assists with accreditation/reaccreditation, and ensures compliance with regulatory, accrediting agencies and any internal and external audits. Facilitates and leads meetings comprised of representatives from various departments across DH sites to create productivity and quality/safety measures, monitor trends, and develops action plans to achieve the highest quality, productivity and compliant/safe practices. Responsible for ongoing tracking of implemented standards from regulatory and accreditation agencies.

Responsibilities

  1. Provides leadership and oversight of medication regulatory, compliance, quality and safety Develops programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of the D-HH system and D-HH Pharmacy Services overall strategic plans and initiatives.
  2. Works with DH leaders to ensure quality improvement initiatives are implemented in their areas, facilitates proper documentation of efforts and ensures the impact/results of quality improvement initiatives are publicized and
  3. Liaises with system wide leaders and other key physician, pharmacy and nursing leaders and committees in ensuring quality medication use standards are met and
  4. Serves as a medication quality and regulatory compliance expert to the DH
  5. Develops the system-wide strategy for education of leaders and staff in the use of quality improvement tools for medication management.
  6. Works with DH pharmacy leadership to maintain a constant state of inspection and survey
  7. Evaluates the compliance of pharmacy business units and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to the practice and operations of ambulatory, infusion, hospital, and retail
  8. Facilitates process and system changes and standardization to improve medication safety and
  9. Participates in the development and execution of quality/regulatory-related training and
  10. Provides support in collaboration with Pharmacy and Quality Operations for the investigation and root cause analysis of product, process and quality systems gaps, deviations and
  11. Partners with other leaders throughout DH system on quality and safety
  12. Understands, communicates and effectively promotes customer service and a Just
  13. Develops and implements system-wide policies and procedures for medication use
  14. Ensures that strategies are implemented to transform medication safety programs which incorporate predictive analytics for medication surveillance and
  15. Performs other duties as required


Qualifications

  • Pharm D.
  • MS in Healthcare Leadership/Healthcare Management, MBA or other advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of clinical pharmacy leadership with 3-5 years of experience in medication safety/ quality in a Pharmacy Department
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of time across system.


Required Licensure/Certifications

  • Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of Pharmacy
  • Current unrestricted NH licensure (or licensed within 90 days of hire)
