The System Director Clinical Informatics reports to the Vice President Enterprise Clinical Informatics and is primarily responsible for assisting with the design and execution of the Health Informatics vision and strategy for CHRISTUS Health. This individual provides strategic and informatics leadership in the development, deployment, re-engineering and integration of clinical information systems (CIS) to support clinicians and achieve the goals of improving quality, reducing cost and improving efficiency associated with the delivery of clinical care throughout CHRISTUS Health.

The System Director Clinical Informatics is responsible for developing strategic clinical informatics plans and serves as a champion and change agent for complex clinical projects and systems that supports efficiency and effectiveness for end users, with the primary goal of advancing evidence based practice. This leader will support a high functioning shared governance model that is inclusive of all stakeholders and is integrated with health system clinical, quality, and service line operational and decision-making structures. This position supports the development and execution of a comprehensive clinical applications training and multi-pronged support strategy in order to promote clinical system adoption.

Education/Skills:

  • Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in clinical health care field in addition to informatics degree/certification or significant professional experience. Strongly prefer Masters in Informatics or M.B.A
  • Advanced Analytical and Statistical skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Strong knowledge of MEDITECH or other major clinical information systems
  • Strong knowledge of clinical care processes across all clinical disciplines in the continuum of care and demonstrated expertise in the application of clinical technology to these processes
  • Thorough understanding of hospital and ambulatory care operations
  • Knowledgeable of relevant national quality, patient safety and regulatory initiatives and ability to address these at a local level.
  • Highly professional, well organized

Experience:

  • In-depth, advanced clinical base of knowledge as normally obtained through an Advanced Clinical Degree and three or more years of related clinical and operational experience
  • Five (5) plus years of direct clinical care experience in relevant clinicial discipline
  • 5 or more years of experience with clinical information systems implementation and optimization
  • Experience in transformational and organizational change management and demonstrated understanding of change management theories and principles.
  • 2 or more years of experience in managing performance improvement activities, including analyzing clinical workflow processes
  • Demonstrated expertise in Clinical Information Systems (CIS) design and implementation in a complex, multi facility environment
  • Significant experience in CIS governance design, clinician adoption and alignment
  • Applied experience in evidence based medicine content design and implementation

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:

  • RN, RPh, or other designations as appropriate to position
