Description

The Capital Ara Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) is seeking a System and Network Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate has a dynamic skill set in systems and network administration but wants to also obtain experience within security. The ability to always maintain a professional demeanor while working as a team member but can operate independently without daily supervision. You will collaborate with committed, and knowledgeable IT, Cybersecurity and other professionals. The environments consist of Windows 10, Windows Server 2019-2022, Active Directory/Group Policy with PKI/PKE, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu, Cisco, VMware and more. This is a non-contractual, full-time employment position that is 100% onsite.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform day to day Windows, Linux, VMware, and Cisco administration for onsite local and wide area closed environments
  • Manage Active Directory by creating, modifying, and updating user accounts, and security groups
  • Plan and implement patches, Group Policy revisions, and data migrations
  • Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications, and software
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve performance, reliability, and ease of administration, and configuration management
  • Test new releases of products and patches within test environments before applying to production
  • Prepare documentation for input into cybersecurity documents
  • Provide technical support and perform troubleshooting to identify, diagnosis, and resolve problems reported by users
  • Provide and carry out backup and recovery services; manage file systems and disk space
  • Participate in special projects as required and perform other duties as assigned
  • Manages the purchase, testing, installation, of computer/server/network hardware

Required Skills:

  • Possess a Bachelor of Science degree (Computer Science or Engineering or similar preferred). Other degree with 4 years of equivalent related work experience and certifications

  • Experience with Public Key Infrastructure/Enabling (PKI/PKE)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve system/network anomalies and failures
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in administering Windows Server 2019 (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, LDAP, PKI)
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Current DoD SECRET clearance, with the ability to obtain TOP SECRET
  • Intermediate experience configuring and maintaining Cisco devices
  • Intermediate experience with any form of Linux, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux, or CentOS.
  • Experience with virtualization (VMWare, ESXi, VCenter)
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) and implementation of Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Ability to lift 35lbs

Preferred Skills:

  • One or more of the following specialized technical certifications (CCNA, CCNP, RHCSA, RHCE, VMWare Data Center Virtualization Certified)
  • Experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols
  • Familiarity with using a configuration management frameworks (Group Policy, Ansible, etc..)
  • Experience with Thin Client environments
  • Experience with PowerShell Scripting especially related to automation
  • Skills related to network design, diagnostics, and optimization
  • Good Understanding and Experience operating and managing systems within DoD or IC environments
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency, integrity, and ethics
  • Outstanding customer service, team building, and consensus building skills.
  • Able to adapt to changes in the work environment and maintain a professional demeanor
