Role Summary:

We are currently seeing an experienced System Administrator to join our team. The System Administrator must have a deep and broad knowledge of computer software, hardware and networks. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, organizing, modifying, and supporting our company’s computer systems.

The System Administrator will operate in a hybrid virtualization environment that includes supporting virtualized servers in both on-prem and in cloud, multiple docker container environments, storage management, and server management.

The core mission of this role will be focused on improving an established change management process and growing our use of Ansible as an orchestration tool.

The System Administrator will be required to travel periodically up to Canada, up to 20% travel may be required.

Daily tasks may include (but not limited to) installing, upgrading, and monitoring software and hardware, maintaining the essentials such as operating systems, business applications, databases, security tools, web-servers, email, laptop, and desktop PCs, and collaborating with other operations teams outside of the IT department that are conducting similar work.

Job Duties (but not limited to):

  • Grow and improve the use of Ansible to manage a growing hybrid virtualization environment
  • Work with other functional teams to compare/contrast technologies and help unify technologies to meet corporate objectives
  • Ensure design of system allows all components to work properly together
  • Make recommendations for future upgrades
  • Monitor and maintain system security
  • Troubleshoot problems reported by users and analyze and isolate issues
  • Evaluate and modify system's performance
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
  • Deliver on commitments IT has promised to business
  • Administer servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, company mobile phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches.

Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor degree in either Computer Sciences, Information Systems, or Computer/Electrical Engineering
  • At least 5+years experience with Linux System Administration; 8+years if no degree
  • Specific experience with System Administration and understanding of:
    • Debian (Ubuntu) Linux
    • Redhat Enterprise (Centos) Linux
  • General experience with System Administration and understanding of Microsoft Windows Server 2008-2019
  • Specific experience with Ansible Orchestration Tool
  • Generic experience with Enterprise Backup tools
  • Specific experience with scripting (bask and python)
  • Specific experience with open-source database (MySQL and/or PostgreSQL) with Galera experience as a plus
  • General experience with directory & authentication provider administration (LDAP / Active Directory / SaML/ IDP)
  • General experience with basic Internet and network troubleshooting
  • General experience with multi-node hypervisor environments
    • General experience with VMWare
    • Any experience with Xen, KVM, OpenStack, Solas, or Proxmox is a plus
  • Experience with iSCSI SANS; Dell EQ knowledge is a plus
  • Experience with ITIL is a plus
  • Experience with Agile is a plus
