Responsibilities: Design, develop, install, and maintain operating systems, utilities, and applications software on computing systems. Resolve system emergencies impacting integrity of user data and systems. Design, configure, implement, and maintain system security strategies, policies, and procedures and establish software/hardware standards and systems policies and procedures. Engage in long-term strategic planning with regard to systems development and integration and conceptualize and implement systems within broad technical and structural frameworks. Perform capacity planning for system configuration, software and network services, load distribution, and service interrelationships among systems. Act as a technical lead for local computer system administration and large-scale computing projects; assign and oversee the work of other system administrators as needed. Manage vendor relationships and hardware and software maintenance agreements with vendors. Support and coordinate implementation of major technical projects such as system upgrades of People Tools, PeopleSoft applications (images/selective adoption). Install, configure and maintain all PeopleSoft production, test and development environments and maintain PeopleSoft Internet Architecture, Application Server (Tuxedo), Web Server (Web logic), and Process Schedulers. Apply Oracle PeopleSoft bug fixes and patches including Critical Patch Updates, PUM images. Perform periodic test system refreshes and project migration to Production and test systems. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve environment related issues for the Web, Application, Batch, File and Database Servers Performance tuning and proactive monitoring of Web Servers, Application Servers, Process Schedulers. Develop and maintain monitoring scripts to monitor systems. Ensure Security of the Production system and supporting environments Document and communicate project activities to the manager on a regular basis. Develop and maintain system integration with external or internal systems. Configure and maintain PeopleSoft Search. May required occasional work at Stanford University (450 Serra Mall, Stanford, CA 94350) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA 94720). May also be permitted to occasionally work from home.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or any engineering discipline and 8 years of experience as system analyst, developer, technology lead, PeopleSoft administrator, or a closely related occupation. Employer will also accept master’s degree and 6 years of experience as specified.
