JOB SUMMARY: The Supply Chain Contracting Director is directly responsible for the oversight of all supply chain related contracts for strategy development, business terms and pricing negotiations. This includes GPO contracts, PACE contracts, NPPC contracts and any additional locally negotiated contracts assigned to Supply Chain. The main objective of the Supply Chain Contracting Director is to align strategies across all of the available contracting options to provide the most beneficial scenario for the viability of Avera and their suppliers.
This position is responsible for recommending standards, accountable for identifying and implementing contract opportunities for cost reduction, while ensuring quality outcomes and driving GPO contract compliance and optimization for the Avera regions. The Director will develop a process for effectively managing contract initiatives that lead to successful internal contracting and sourcing capabilities for GPO and non-GPO spend, purchased services, capital acquisitions and other non-labor spend as assigned.
The Supply Chain Contracting Director is also directly responsible to ensure that the entire Supply Chain Contracting team is educated on the various negotiation strategies available and business terms included in the contracts assigned. They will work alongside the contract owners to give guidance on options and stay abreast of issues that arise within Avera contract terms and agreements throughout the life of the agreements. This position will develop standard work tasks with the Contract Administrators to develop efficient workflow and task assignment to complete negotiations in a timely and complete manner.
This director is a highly visible position within the system with accountability to lead, direct and execute viable strategies for an effective Supply Chain contracting program, which is essential to the clinical and financial positioning of Avera Health.
The Director is also responsible for working side-by-side with the Contract Manager-Legal to ensure an effective and efficient use of the Contract Management System. Also, will work directly with Avera legal to develop overall contract strategies around strategic partnerships, master services agreements, templates and common business terms and conditions for contracting relationships.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business management, economics, law or related field is required.
- 5 years contracting experience required.
- 3 year leadership experience preferred.
- Advanced degree is preferred.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- This position requires a valid driver's license and that the employee is insurable by the Avera Health automobile liability insurance carrier.
