Responsible for driving site materials management and execution activities. Includes materials movement, inventory and logistics (shipping, receiving, traffic, import/export) within the site. This includes ensuring the supply chain is aligned to support site execution, in addition to coordinating with the planning and procurement functions.

Provide policy leadership and direction to procurement functions. Negotiate with vendors for the purchase of all materials, supplies, equipment and services. Responsible for supplier management and control. Maintain compliance with all applicable State, Provincial and Federal laws which govern or apply to procurement related matters.

  1. Primary or Major Responsibilities:

  • Identify, develop, and implement best practices within Materials Management, Planning, Forecasting, Scheduling, on time delivery.

  • Communicate any changes to the production schedule to various departments, securing approvals, and authorizations as required.

  • Closely monitor inventory input and relief in order to meet targets.

  • Lead and/or support multiple critical, complex, high leverage projects; aid in the selection, prioritization and launching of Continuous Improvement projects and teams.

  • Implement cost improvement strategy and deliver quarterly improvements.

  • Coordinate activities with the other Sparton Electronics functions.

  • Interact with customers to assure that the voice of the customer is meeting or exceeding customer requirements.

  • Lead change and establish operational metrics/key indicators for process control, communication, and performance improvement; influence, consult, and lead efforts for sharing and standardizing of best practices and processes.

  • Develop, execute and achieve tactical and strategic initiatives through active leadership that positively impact business plans, operating profits, practices, policies, and procedures.

  • Communicate clearly with an understanding of your audience and to present ideas and gain commitments that are crucial to the success of the business.

  • Develop and interpret budgets and financial statements.

  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles and process for material management improvement.

  • Effectively select, develop, coach, empower, provide performance feedback/actions, and motivate direct reports to ensure talent development, growth in their scope of responsibility, and accountability for operational excellence.

  • Effectively manages direct and indirect reports to ensure performance and employee satisfaction meet company standards.


  • Ensures that all assignments are performed in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, Provincial and Company safety and health regulations, and where applicable, proper personal protective equipment is utilized.
  • Actively support and participate in Safety related programs and initiatives.

Minimum Requirements:

      • Due to export restrictions, must be US Citizen.

      • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or related discipline. MBA Preferred.

      • Minimum 7 years management/supervisory experience.

      • Minimum 10 years Supply Chain Management experience.

      • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt and/or Lean certification preferred.

      • APICS certification preferred.

Additional Qualifications:

    • Microsoft Dynamics AX or other MRP/ERP systems preferred.

    • Understanding of Contract Manufacturing business with knowledge of Defense / Aerospace markets, locations, structure and culture, as well as electronic and electronic device technology.

    • Proven leadership and team management skills.

    • A strong bias for action and results orientation.

    • Possess conflict management skills and understand self-directed work teams.

    • Customer/Supplier relationship experience.
