Job Summary:

 Manages the supply chain functions of scheduling, procurement (oversee the purchasing function in the areas of ingredients, packaging and commodities by assuring continuous supply and optimizing procurement to minimize total costs), and forecasting for the plant; Helps location consistently achieve its target customer service levels with a minimum investment in inventories costs; Work with plant operations to identify opportunities to improve production cycles in order to reduce working capital while also maintaining or lowering total net landed costs. Leads communications between location, brand teams, customer service, and logistics in proactively communicating and/or resolving issues related to scheduling, procurement, and forecasting activities. Coordinates production schedules to establish sequence and lead time for each operation to meet established production goals. Confers with production supervisors to determine status of projects. Identifies operations that delay schedules and recommends adjustments to meet unforeseen circumstances. Work close with S&OP in the creation product runs based upon sale forecast.  Responsible for Run Strategy Optimization of the Lean Supply Chain Pillar improvements.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee Plant Production processes to meet sales requirements, minimize cost to produce through scheduling of batch quantities, sequence of production, raw material constraints and minimize write-off’s.
  • Develop and implement block schedules.
  • Maximize customer fill expectations by coordinating shipments with Master Planner, Warehouse Manager, S&OP, and APO groups.
  • Work with Research and Development team to forecast sales of new products
  • Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
  • Coordinate cross functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated sales and marketing assumptions.
  • Interact with sales, marketing, and customer finance to understand demand forecast drivers.
  • Utilize collaboration and consensus approach by working S&OP and customer finance to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecast.
  • Interaction with multiple functional areas across all levels as well as vendors, customers, and third-party warehouses.
  • Support all Conagra Performance System (CPS) activities related to Supply Chain and Operations as need to include Pillar work, Daily management Systems (DMS) and Continuous Skills Development (CSD)
  • Lead the development and facilitation of CPS activities and training.
  • Lead Lean Supply Chain Pillar in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-out.
  • Execute with excellence customer replenishment and feedback to the Supply Chain group opportunities and risk regarding customer replenishment performance metrics.
  • Refine systems and methods to continually improve forecasts so that the plant can better anticipate customer needs
  • Analyze and make recommendations on best practices for product flow to IMC’s and customers from the Plant.
  • Ensure all daily processes and reports are completed and accurate
  • Perform other duties as the Operations Manager will require.
  • Complies with standard food Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all other food safety requirements as they relate to all products and processes.

Qualifications (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities)

  • Knowledge of Supply Chain functions
  • Demonstrate competence in analytics (numeric/data processing and interpretations) inventory manage.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/manage a team
  • Knowledge of forecasting system/software (SAP/APO)
  • Good planning and execution skills
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize daily task.
  • Consistently identify, track, and resolve enhancements to work procedures or methods
  • Prior experience/training in Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated ability to train others
  • Requires analytical, decision making and presentation skills
  • Lead a small team in the execution of purchasing and planning

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or other related are required.
  • 5-7 years related experience and/or training in the areas of purchasing, inventory, planning, logistics and general supply chain knowledge. Previous food manufacturing a plus.
  • APICS certification a plus
  • Experience with SAP or related ERP system.
  • Computer experience required including Microsoft applications (i.e. Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook). SAP.

Physical Demands

  • Position works in manufacturing environment. Must be able to work in areas that are hot or cold, climb ladders/stairs, or work in tight quarters.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • Ability to stand/and or sit for extended periods
  • Work in an environment of production facility with moderate noise levels.
