The Supplier Management Directormanages the business and technical relationships with direct material suppliers as well driving savings in indirect spending. The annual spend responsibility for this role is roughly $50M of direct materials and $30M of indirect spend. The role oversees a group in a flat organization that is set into 3 sub-groups:
1. Strategic Sourcing (Direct Material Supplier Identification, Relationship, Cost Savings and Risk Management) staffed with sourcing/commodity managers both in Cincinnati, OH and Tijuana, Mx.
2. Contract Manufacturing Engineering (Technical relationship with Contract Manufacturers, OEMs) staffed with engineers
3. Indirect Sourcing staffed with indirect sourcing professional
We consider this position as a key role to be considered in our longer term Operations executive succession planning. Therefore, we will prefer the successful candidate brings manufacturing experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES):

Supplier Management Director
Responsible for managing a team of commodity managers focused on supplier identification, agreements/contracts, cost savings opportunities and risk assessment and reduction.
A key focus of commodity management is driving year over year cost (price) reduction in materials purchased. This activity requires good project oversight, strong cross functional interaction and continuous resource visibility.
Responsible for setting the strategy of and managing a team of Contract Manufacturing (Supplier) Engineers to assure technical issues that impact quality, service and are efficieintly addressed.
Responsible for monitoring and coaching a professional resource to work cross functionally to achieve savings in indirect spend of the US TAS organization.
Serves as an escalation point and partners with suppliers in times of severe quality or service issues.
Assures that appropriate sourcing reports and analysis utilizing ERP and other systems is done in a timely fashion. Partner with Finance and other teams to assure this information is gathered and reported, both savings progress and other critical supplier management KPI’s.
Assures that the Supplier Management team has strategies and plans for cost savings, risk reduction and supplier selection.
Participates in cross-functional SOP teams to drive an enhanced customer experience.
Utilizes DBS (Danaher Business System) tools to drive continuous improvement in all core activities.
Other roles of the Commodity Management/Sourcing Team:
Request for Information (RFI), Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Quote (RFQ) creation and evaluation.
Leads and organizes supplier reviews based on supplier classification.
Develops supplier performance through use of action plans and supplier management tools such as score cards, etc.
Supplier selection process per sourcing strategies.
Builds and maintains relationships with strategic suppliers.
Evaluates supplier performance using scorecards and makes recommendations for corrective actions and continuous improvements.
Analyzes and reports spend data to seek potential cost reduction opportunities, item standardizations or supplier consolidations.
Responsible for PPV goals, reporting, and daily management
Ownership of Change Management Leaderhsip on cost savings or supply risk reduction projects
High degree of cross functional cooperation and prioritization; Engineering, Legal, Finance, Marketing, Manufacturing, etc.
Works with other Danaher operating comanies to implement best in class sourcing initiatives
Other Roles of the Contract Manufacturing Engineering Group:
Ownership of Change Management Leadership on appropriate quality, service or cost improvement projects
High degree of cross functional cooperation, prioritization and project management of modestly sized projects
ERP data stewardship, otherwise referred to as ‘configuration management’.
Contract manufactured product ownership after Design Transfer
Participates in definition of CM Quality Agreements in conjunction with QA resources
Collaborates with Strategic Sourcing team to assure supply assurance and risk avoidance both short and long term with suppliers/CMs
BS in Engineering or Business disciplines
Minimum 10 years progressive experience in strategic sourcing, commodity management and supplier relationships, both business and technical, including formal leadership roles
Experience in medical device industry and familiarity FDA regulated environment
Some Manufacturing and/or Contract Manufacturing experience.
MBA, Advanced Engineering Degree
APICS or ISM certification.
Must be able to travel up to 30% of the time, when measured over extended period; May reach >50% for short durations.
Typical work related travel assignments range 1-5 days, and as such overnight, out-of-town stays.
Quarterly travel to Tijuana is likely.
