Job Description:


  • Manages the development and execution of commodity strategies for the DJO Surgical business unit. Identifies, develops, and establishes relationships with suppliers to support ongoing purchase of product and services at the most cost-effective level while monitoring and ensuring that supplier quality, service and performance remains consistently high. Conducts business relevant communication to optimize strong relationships between DJO Surgical and the supply base.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops commodity strategies for dedicated metalworking and/or plastic molding of implantable devices
  • Manages the sourcing selection process. Prepares RFQs, reviews proposals; negotiates price, lead time, and service levels
  • Provides sourcing recommendations to senior leadership
  • Negotiates manufacturing and design contracts with suppliers, as well as ongoing amendments and statements of work, as required
  • Monitors adherence to contract terms
  • Drives attainment of annual cost-down targets with suppliers
  • Coordinates Supplier Monthly Operating Reviews and Strategic Business reviews
  • Works closely with Materials, R&D, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure commercial aspects of Engineering Change Orders are implemented appropriately
  • Serves as a core team member on new product launches as assigned
  • Qualifications:
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering or related field
  • 5+ years' experience sourcing with suppliers in Medical Device or other regulated industry
  • Experience in Metalworking, Casting, forging, finishing, CNC Machining desired
  • Experience in Plastic injection molding desired
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
  • Essential Requirements:

  • Travel: 50% (Two weeks/month)
  • Requires digital dexterity to operate computer keyboard, personal computer, and telephone.
  • Requires use of oral communication to perform work and making general decisions in the absence of specific directions. Must also be able to communicate verbally and visually.
