Air Force Civilian Service is currently seeking a full-time Supervisory General Engineer (Specialty Engineer) to work in the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC), Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Systems Directorate (NI), Sentinel Systems Integration Office (NIX-SI) at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, UT.
This position (988266) is an NH-0801-04, which has a typical 2026 salary range of $125,776 - $192,331

The primary purpose of this Supervisory Engineer position is to serve as the technical subject matter expert on Parts, Materials, and Processes (PM&P), Corrosion Prevention, Manufacturing, Reliability, Availability, and Maintainability (RAM), Human System Integration (HIS), and Environmental Compliance and Considerations for the Sentinel Weapon System and will be the first level supervisor for the Specialties area. The branch ensures Sentinel weapon system requirements meet war fighter mission capability needs and is responsible for guaranteeing that the fielded system is safe, secure, and effective. The Specialties Lead will oversee Sentinel's design and development while ensuring compliance with applicable requirements, certifications, and risk-informed objectives.
DUTIES:
• As the lead for all PM&P, corrosion prevention, manufacturing readiness, RAM, HSI, and environmental compliance and consideration, this individual ensures the Sentinel weapon system is designed, developed, verified, and sustained in compliance with all applicable requirements, certifications, and risk-informed program objectives.
• Supervises and leads a diverse team of government employees, government support contractors, and other stakeholders in developing, integrating, and implementing technical solutions to highly complex problems with significant strategic impact.
• Promotes teamwork and solves broad organizational issues to identify and mitigate risks and ensure expedient delivery of a combat-ready system to the operational environment.
• Provides program leadership and technical direction on architecture governance and development activities, including management and oversight of model content and profile development, and provides briefings to senior leaders on the status, risks, and opportunities associated with systems engineering artifacts.
• Leads technical reviews of contractor deliverables to:
• Ensure adherence to appropriate requirements, governance, and guidance;
• Assess progress toward weapon system development goals and objectives;
• Identify risk areas; and
• Provide feedback to resolve challenges associated with architecting complex systems, to include potential design changes during the Engineering and Manufacturing Development and Production and Deployment phases of the Sentinel program life cycle.
• Monitors schedule, cost, performance, and acquisition requirements for programs within the Mission Assurance Integrated Product Team and assists in resolving issues encountered throughout the acquisition process.
• Engages with extended and geographically dispersed stakeholders, including subject matter experts from across the ICBM Systems Directorate, Air Force Global Strike Command, United States Strategic Command, the National Security Agency, various support contractors, and senior Department of War officials-all to ensure Sentinel technical activities are successfully planned, coordinated, and executed.
SKILLS:
• Positions at this level typically have 10-15 or more years of relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with multiple disciplines within the Specialties areas to include PM&P, Corrosion Prevention, Manufacturing, RAM, HSI, Environmental Compliance and Considerations, and the evaluation of risks for a large, complex, high-dollar program.
• Strong technical skills in engineering, sufficient to serve as a senior subject matter expert able to identify technical gaps and deficiencies in contractor deliverables requiring attention for the next iteration.
• Experience in verifying contractor allocation of requirements to system elements, contractor development of model content (e.g. use-cases, meta-models), and contractor technical baseline management is ideal.
• Leadership and mentoring skills to guide and develop team members across the Sentinel Systems Division in pursuit of program objectives and milestones are strongly preferred.
• Depth of experience in integrating systems engineering efforts from multiple teams within an enterprise is highly valued.
• Breadth of engineering experience and relevant advanced degree.

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance and required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

• A professional engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an ABET accredited institution is required; an advanced engineering degree, such as a Master's or a PhD is preferred.
• This position is designated as a drug testing position. The incumbent is subjected to pre-employment drug testing as a condition of employment, and participation in random drug testing thereafter.
• Employee must meet Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements, which includes achieving Engineering and Technical Management "Practitioner" certification category within required timeframe after appointment.
• In accordance with the Ethics in Government Act, 1978, employee may be required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually.
• Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
