Job Description

In this role you will:

Provide technical assistance on assigned projects. Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to, developing and/or reviewing and providing comments to plans and drawings; coordinating and processing new requirements via approved Automated Information System; preparing technical solutions and cost estimates for emerging requirements; attending design, status and other project meetings; and providing ad hoc reports and briefings upon government request.

Supplement government technical personnel to support the day-to-day management, operation, maintenance and administration of communications and IT systems and services in production, development, exercise and training environments. Preventive, remedial, and corrective maintenance shall be performed to ensure equipment and/or systems are in full operating condition as described by the equipment manufacturer without degradation of service. Equipment, regardless of whether or not it is providing service at any time, shall be maintained as if it were providing service.

Install, patch, upgrade, tune, optimize and repair hardware and software (including operating systems, applications and databases) to maintain optimal performance.

Responsible for O&M of equipment and/or systems up to and including their demarcation points, and shall coordinate with, and assist external entities (other governmental agencies or contractors) in troubleshooting beyond their demarcation point during outages and troubleshooting, as required.

Schedule, coordinate, perform and record Preventive Maintenance Inspections (PMIs) on the communication and IT systems and associated hardware IAW the original equipment manufacturer's manuals (and/or government technical orders, as applicable) and USAFCENT Special InstructionsCommunications (SPIN-C). The logs and schedules shall be maintained at each work center. PMI completion documents on file for review by government officials upon request.

Ensure all ASIs are identified, scheduled, coordinated and approved IAW SPIN-C and applicable DoD, USAF, USAFCENT directives. Such outages shall be scheduled at a time which will cause the least impact to users, based on user work schedules must not interfere with ongoing operations or exercises. Prior to ASI, the user(s) must formally release equipment, systems, circuits, etc., IAW local procedures.

Monitor equipment and systems for indications of warnings, faults, alarm conditions and outages; and provide component and system fault isolation, diagnostics, troubleshooting and restoration services.

Assist with communications and IT asset (hardware/software) accountability and related activities including, but not limited to, receipt, inspection, inventory, tracking, transportation and disposition. Contractor personnel in maintenance/production work centers may also be designated IT Equipment Custodians (ITEC). If appointed, contractor personnel shall perform ITEC duties and responsibilities IAW AFMAN 17-1203, IT Asset Management.


Required Qualifications


Active/current Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Networking; OR - 4+ years Switching and Routing Network experience; AND

DoD 8570 Level 2 or higher (Security+);

CISCO Certified Network Professional (CCNP)

5+ years supervising an IT workforce

Experience providing Tier 2 technical support (diagnosis, analysis and troubleshooting and resolution for more complex network, client and end-user connectivity issues escalated by Tier 1 technical support staff)

Experience adding and removing client devices (e.g., PCs, Thin Clients, VoIPs, VoSIPs, VTCs, DVTCs, peripherals, etc.) from networks

Experience operating and maintaining call manager (Cisco Unified Communications Manager); implement add, moves and changes; and manage DHCP reservations

Experience operating and maintaining access control systems; and manage and configure MAC address authentication

Experience operating and maintaining network monitoring and analysis tools; and detect, analyze and resolve network infrastructure and systems problems

Experience evaluating current infrastructure, research current technologies/solutions; and provide hardware/software upgrade and replacement recommendations for end-of-life/end-ofsupport COTS products to government technical representatives;

Experience with circuit actions to include preparing and coordinating requests for service; engineering, installing, testing and accepting or removing circuits per Telecommunications Service Orders; and preparing and maintaining circuit documentation and historical records

Experience updating and maintaining Enterprise network configuration and connectivity drawings, diagrams and engineering and installation documentation


Desired Qualifications


Experience working with DoD and/or USAF networks

Experience working in an overseas location

Ability to travel on short notice (<72 hrs notice in some cases)

Ability to respond to after hours service requests when/if required

Ability and willingness to assume subordinate duties in case of a vacancy

Experience maintaining Communications Security (COMSEC) devices

Experience and ability to develop and maintain IT system documentation
