Supervisor - Pharmacy Home Care
This position will support LLUMC's strategic plan and the organization's mission to continue the teaching and healing ministry of Jesus Christ, while embracing the core values of Compassion, Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, and Wholeness. The Supervisor-Pharmacy, Home Care, oversees all aspects of the pharmacy operations. Supervises certain distributive, clinical and administrative functions of the home infusion pharmacy. Supervises, trains, and evaluates clinicians i.e. pharmacists, nurses, and dietitians, and pharmacy supporting staff i.e. pharmacy technicians, clerks, purchaser, and billing personnel. Fully knowledgeable with USP <797> and USP <800>. Ensures quality assurance of compounded sterile products and compliance to regulatory requirements. Works directly with Purchasing Agent to adequately stock supplies and provide direction to staff during times of medication and supplies shortage. Interfaces with prescribers, nurses, patients, and ancillary departments. Responsible for the integrity, accuracy and security of all legend and non-legend items in the pharmacy. Advises Director on development, implementation, and revision of department policies and procedures. Working knowledge and compliance with all applicable state, federal rules and regulations as well as accreditation standards. Performs other duties as needed.
Able to write legibly speak; assemble, troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment and perform technical age-specific patient care activities as required; use computer and software programs necessary to the position. Able to communicate effectively, and professionally with others, be assertive and consistent in following policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure, collaborate with others; accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing and on the telephone; perform basic math functions essential to position; think critically; organize and prioritize workload; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure, problem solve; recall information; pay close attention to detail; document legibly; use computer for essential job duties. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written document necessary to the position. Graduate from School of Pharmacy accredited by the American Board on Pharmaceutical Educationrequired. PharmD. Degreepreferred. Minimum two years of Clinical pharmacy experience performing pharmaceutical assessments and reassessments, creating and executing plans to manage the pharmaceutical care of home care patients. Minimum two years of supervisory experiencerequired. Minimum one year of Home infusion experiencepreferred. Current California Pharmacist license required.
