About the role

We are looking for a Superintendent – Reliability in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Superintendent – Reliability leads a team of reliability engineers, predictive maintenance and repair specialists to facilitate improvement of safety, reliability, maintainability and operability of physical assets.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering. Technical degree and/or relevant experience may be considered;
  • Demonstrated Commitment to Safety;
  • 10-years minerals, processing, heavy industry experience;
  • Progressive experience in Asset Management, ie; Front-line Supervision, Planning & Scheduling, Project Engineering / Management, Reliability Engineering, Maintenance / Mechanical Engineering preferred;
  • Advanced skills in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), particularly SAP preferred or Ability to quickly pick up on computerized maintenance management software and use effectively with a planning process to improve down day repairs;
  • Strategic, conceptual and analytical skills;
  • Competent computer skills in word processing, spreadsheet and technical applications;
  • Strong oral / written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Candidates should have a strong work ethic, self-motivated, and the ability to work in a highly motivated team environment;
  • Knowledgeable in the employment and integration of proactive asset management (maintenance) concepts.

Licenses/Certifications:

· CMRP certification preferred but not required;

· Other condition monitoring / analytical training and/or certifications desirable, ie; Vibration Analysis, Ultrasonic Emissions, Thermography, Non-destructive technologies, Motor Current Evaluation, Hydraulics, Tribology / Lubrication, Welding technology, etc. desirable.

Training:

· Desired exposure to and application of:

o Business Improvement techniques, ie; Lean / Six Sigma

o Systematic Failure Identification / Elimination, ie; Root Cause Failure Analysis

o Reliability Engineering techniques / RCM Fundamentals

o Condition-based / predictive / proactive maintenance techniques .

Where you will be working

The Rio Tinto Kennecott Asset Reliability group supports the Kennecott value chain. The team is organized to provide support via 2 reliability superintendents each managing a portion of the value chain. The minerals role supports the mine and concentrator while the metals role supports the smelter and refinery. Within each area, the superintendent manages a team of reliability engineers, predicative maintenance specialists, and repairable specialists. This role may be based in the minerals or metals area depending on business needs and the successful candidates' strengths.
