Our client is seeking several experienced and highly qualified Engineering professionals to work and support their ElectricalEngineering Services & Systems division, remotely throughout the United States and work in the capacity of Substation Field Engineer. The chosen candidate will join a team that brings extensive skills and experiences to field service engineering. Active participation in recognized technical societies such as NFPA and IEEE and collaboration with a variety of utilities and industries ensures that our technicians are knowledgeable about today?s cutting edge technology and engineering techniques.

You will function as the responsibleelectrical commissioning engineer for assigned projects. You will provide overall project planning, coordination and supervision of construction, commissioning and testing activities to ensure compliance with plans and specifications. The ideal candidate should possess experienced in wiring check outs, panel testing, CT testing, relay programming and testing, troubleshooting, etc. Approximately 75% travel will be required for commissioning and testing while 25% will be utilized at the local office for project meetings and assisting with project design.

 

 

Responsibilities  

?Provide safe, efficient and accurate commissioning of new transmission substation equipment prior to it being released for transmission operations.

?Development of check-out guides, review and approval of test results and isolation plans, and the development of energization plan to minimize system risk.

?Communication across multi-disciplined teams to include electricalcontractors, customers, regional technicians, transmission operators, design engineers, planning/protection and project management to ensure successful and timely project completion.

?Challenge project designs for correctness and reliability standards.

?Providing limited field design services to correct minor design problems encountered during the implementation of substation capital projects.

?Producing results that have a direct, positive impact on the company.

?Act as resident engineer on projects of any magnitude.

?Interpret complex plans and specifications and apply available information to ensure that all project design requirements are satisfied.

?Takes a lead role in resolving construction problems, procedures, and methods through working with the customer and engineering personnel, inspectors, contractors, and suppliers.

?Maintain familiarity with appropriate engineering and construction codes to ensure compliance with applicable codes.

?Prepare and/or monitor complex construction and commissioning schedules to ensure the timely completion of work.

?Prepare and/or implement outage plans, energization plans, and detailed commissioning plans.

?Conduct on-site design or investigation work to ensure adequacy of contractor?s methods.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in ElectricalEngineering OR a Professional Certified Engineer (PE) license with a Bachelor?s Degree in a related engineering discipline is required. PE License is strongly preferred.

7+ years of experience evaluating and servicing electricaldistribution or control systems is desirable.

3years of substation and/or relay testing experience is required.

2 - 5years of electricalengineeringexperience is required.

Protection and control experience with transmission and distribution equipment

5+ years working with High voltage substations

Experience in the design, maintenance or testing of substation equipment is mandatory in this role.

Experience with application and communication of microprocessor based protection and control equipment

Experience with SEL products and software, Enoserve RTS and Doble testing is required.

Flexibility and adaptability to work in a changing global, virtual organization is preferred.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and switch focus efficiently is required.

Experience with MS Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, etc.) is required.

Up to 75% Domestic Travel is required.

Valid and unrestricted driver?s license issued by state of residence and in good standing is required.
