SUBSEA SYSTEMS ENGINEER

 

The Subsea Systems engineer is responsible for the top-level design of high-performance undersea fiber optic communications systems. These systems, utilizing advanced coherent communication techniques, provide the backbone connectivity between countries and continents worldwide. Successful candidates will have experience in subsea cable systems, technical acumen in coherent transmission, poise to work with and present to customers, and willingness to travel worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

?        Interfacing with sales teams and customers to define high-level systems architectures

?        Directing or executing simulations of systems for maximum capacity and minimum cost

?        Executing application-level engineering, applying Infinera solutions for subsea systems

?        Presenting to customers ? explaining designs, incorporating customer feedback, offering innovative solutions

?        Supporting Sales as a technical representative for systems solutions

?        Working with a team of highly-skilled optical and transmission engineers to help direct product features and needs to continuously improve Infinera?s product line

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

?        Experience in submarine fiber optic transmission or communication systems design necessary

?        Exposure to high-performance optical modeling, and familiarity with benefits and limitations

?        Ability to make sound judgements on simulation data

?        Ability to make engineering trade-offs to optimize designs for capacity, cost, or both

?        Highly detail-oriented, excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

?        Highly motivated team player adept at cross-functional interaction.

?        Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Education / Experience

M.S./PhD in Optics/Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.  + 3years of experiencepreferred.
