The Structural Engineer we are looking for is on track to achieve their PE or currently holds a PE license. A desire to do good work, collaborate with your team, delight your clients and manage a wide variety of activities including; field inspections and written reports for residential and commercial property damage claims, forensic investigations involving construction or design defect claims. Additionally, provide detailed investigative reports and findings to senior management and clients.

- Manage assignments in region, visit sites on an average of one to three days and provide multiple day support to other regions in the event of a natural disaster

Position Requirements
- Proficient with structural engineering design for commercial and residential building structures including concrete, wood, and steel
- Previous experience in the structural design of commercial and/or residential structures and experience with property damage claim investigations
- Proficient with building envelope requirements
- Previous experience in supporting litigation matters such as depositions, trial testimony, or mediation is preferred
- Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers, clients and subcontractors
Qualifications
Experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a minimum of five to ten years experience in design, inspection, and construction of residential and commercial structures
- Forensic investigation experience preferred
- Architects are encouraged to apply as well!
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of the residential (IRC), commercial (IBC) and existing (IEBC) I-codes
- Understanding of wood framing and foundation components
- Understanding of building envelope requirements preferred
- Must be able to perform complex tasks and handle multiple priorities, and have the ability to perform exceptionally under a variety of conditions
- Knowledge of computer operations and standard software packages (word processing, spreadsheets, Adobe) required
- MathCAD not required but beneficial
- PE - Professional Registration across northeastern states (PE in NY, NJ, CT, and PA) preferred

Education
- Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering (with emphasis in structures) or Architecture
- Advanced degree not required but beneficial
Physical Requirement
- Able to carry and operate a 24-foot extension ladder unassisted
- Able to walk on sloped roofs
- Able to work in small spaces (attics, crawl spaces)
