The Structural Designer will be an integral part of our Innovation and Design team.The Designer will create custom and innovative packaging design concepts for a variety of customers in the high end confectionary, spirits, medical device, and luxury cosmetics industries. These packaging solutions will not only meet the requirements of our clients, but will help secure our reputation for innovation and quality. This position will do some travel between our plants and will present designs at customer meetings.
PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILIES:
? Work collaboratively with Sales and customers to understand design needs and objectives and participate in project review meetings.
? Maintain expert knowledge of Autajon Packaging capabilities including folding cartons, set up boxes, and thermoforming.
? Maintain expert knowledge of how various packaging components will be printed, die cut, glued and assembled.
? Generate high quality, innovative design ideas utilizing Artios Cad software.
? Create prototype packaging and evaluate and refine as needed.
? Operate the Kongsberg cutting table in order to fulfill sample requests.
? Complete requests for designs and prototypes in a timely manner.
?Responsible for project development and record keeping.
? Present ideas and provide technical support to sales and manufacturing teams.
? Contributes to team effort by accomplishing job related results as needed.
?Travel as needed to other Autajon locations and/or to customer sites.
Degree in Packaging Engineering or Industrial Design preferred; or equivalent work experience.
Proficiency in Artios CAD, Adobe, Microsoft Office and basic computer skills
Knowledge of and ability to operate the cutting table
Talent for innovative design
Experience in the folding carton industry preferred
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Must be attentive to detail.
Must be able to stand at the cutting table and sit for long periods operating the computer.
Must be able to comprehend and follow all job procedures and safety protocols
