How you’ll make an impact:

Provide technical architecture expertise required for optimizing our Content Distribution technology framework. The technical areas of focus for this role would include Content Delivery Network expertise, HLS streaming, Streaming player behaviors, Content related Security (WAF,DDoS, etc.), Origin services, and Cloud Based solutions (particularly AWS). The candidate would leverage their technical knowledge to guide their team on solutions and design, as well as collaborating with other teams within SiriusXM to facilitate integration of media delivery use cases. This role will be part of a growing organization focusing on delivering simple technical solutions to solve complex problems in the media space. The candidate will require a broad knowledge of streaming media at scale and all of the components related to successfully delivering media at scale, and use that knowledge to guide the design of the systems and interactions with the system for this purpose.

What you’ll do:

• Modernize our Content Distribution technical implementations
• Design and optimize origin delivery in a multi-CDN environment
• Enable SiriusXM media to scale globally wherever IP is used
• Facilitate the convergence of SiriusXM onto a unified distribution platform
• Ensure design of high availability environments complete with multiple points of failover in case of issue, as well as scaling
• Work closely with teams within SiriusXM to collaborate on end to end solutions involving media delivery
• Provide guidance on best practices related to CDN integrations and architectures, associated monitoring & tooling, etc
• Rapidly design solutions utilizing cloud based infrastructure
• Be responsible for oversight of Web based security solutions in our media delivery workflows

What you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar field, or equivalent experience, in lieu of degree.
• 5+ years of IT industry experience
• Familiarity of the Content Distribution Network space (Akamai, Fastly, CloudFront, etc.)
• Excellent interpersonal skills; effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering and staff at all levels
• Strong understanding of engineering systems, IP based delivery, media segmentation and preparation, and cloud networking environments.
• Expert with performance tuning for IP delivery and cloud origin storage.
• Ability to design complex media delivery solutions
• Has successfully enabled media distribution solutions to globally scale, preferably by leveraging and developing CDN solutions
• Build & Release best practices
• Content Distribution Network integration
• Systems Engineering - Linux preferred
• Web/Proxy/Caching server and load balancing technologies (Apache,Nginx, HAProxy,Varnish,)
• Understanding of the HTTP protocol
• Cloud Infrastructure solutioning - AWS, GCP
• Data Query/Visualization,Observability - Grafana, Kibana, ElasticSearch, Prometheus etc.
• Experience in a modern media distribution environment and comfort with IP based delivery formats such as HLS, CMAF, etc.
• Web Security Products (WAF, DDoS)
• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $113,000 to $153,400 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
