DataStax powers the Right-Now Enterprise with the always-on, distributed cloud database built on Apache Cassandra™ and designed for hybrid cloud. We are seeking a talented Strategic Solutions Engineer tojoin our team.

Job Description:

As a Strategic Solutions Engineer, you would work as part of the elite sales team to qualify, educate and lead the design and adoption of database solutions. You would also be on the front line of our sales team in a dynamic, high-energy environment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Craft, manage and deliver effective strategies with the Key Account Executives to direct sales activities across large enterprise organizations, within our key account portfolio
  • Qualify requirements and needs, and effectively articulate DataStax's ability to meet these needs
  • Drive high levels of engagement through discovery sessions, enablement and solution positioning with executives and technical stakeholders
  • A desire to constantly learn new technologies and stay abreast of the distributed computing landscape and drive digital transformation
  • Enable customers through well-crafted presentations, technical workshops and training sessions
  • Customize and adapt presentations for both small executive and large audiences, and for audiences with differing levels of technical experience
  • Take ownership and drive VIP initiatives within key high-profile accounts
  • Collect feedback and deliver it to the product team
  • Effectively collaborate with other Strategic Solution Engineers to drive business objectives

Job Requirements:

  • 10+ years of customer-facing experience in a pre-sales capacity managing and coordinating long-term relationships across Fortune 1000 organizations
  • Past experience guiding the enterprise organizations on the journey to digital transformation and modernization
  • Proven track record of successfully engaging and gathering buy-in across technical and executive stakeholders in the evaluation process
  • Partnering with prospects to educate on current offerings and roadmap to ensure alignment between Datastax product and customer needs
  • Extensive history of building customer trust and delivering solutions offerings that meet customers needs
  • Proven history of being a trusted advisor and advocate for client to ensure long-term satisfaction of delivery
  • Proven history of developing recommendations and  solutions that drive customer adoption and success
  • Extensive experience delivering work products and presentations to all executive sponsors and technical stakeholders
  • Past experience guiding the enterprise organizations on the journey to digital transformation and modernization
  • 5+ or more years Linux operations experience
  • 5+ or more years software engineering experience 3 or more years experience with traditional RDBMS including Data Modeling, performance tuning, and configuration.
  • A solid understanding of system architecture and software design principles
  • Highly effective listening and critical thinking skills
  • Able to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Technology leadership experience as a software development manager or CTO
  • Hands on experience with DataStax Enterprise (DSE), Apache Cassandra,  Apache Solr, Apache Spark, or Graph Databases (e.g. DSE Graph, Titan, Neo4j) highly preferred
  • Knowledge of datacenter architecture in a production environment
  • Knowledge of multi-datacenter / global deployments and distributed architectures
